    • Oil Filter

      hello friends
I had changed the oil filter on 10550 kms for first time, but I do not feel any change in bike performance. the Service guy told me just clean the oil filter and it will also work properly but I had changed it. Now want to know how can I increase the performance.

Oil filter does not boost performance. It keeps the oil clean - this improves the longevity of the engine.

You gotta change the oil filter in the 1st service itself! Did you miss that?
Or do you mean to say you got the air filter changed at 10550 kms!

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Oil filter is changed at 1st Service, thereafter at every 10K kms.

Exactly! docv said he got it changed for the 1st time at 10550 (quoted below)..
Thats why I was wondering if he didn't get it replaced at 1st service..

Hmmm.. So you must have got the Engine Oil also changed at 500 Kms itself.. Any particular reason for the earlier than recommended oil filter change?
Let me take a guess...Did you start opening up the bike after the 1st 500 Kms itself? As in, did you start ripping it after 500 Kms on the Odo..

Obviousy buddy, Oil too changes. Its also sugggested thing to do.

First few hundred KMs, most of the bike's run in is completed and any metal derby is in that oil. So its better to change the oil right after 150kms. And Oil filter too.

I opened my bike to 80kmph when my bike was just 60kms old.
then 100kmph when it was 150kms old. And overall ripping started only after 2000kms

Hmmm.. Pretty earlier than I had thought...
I've clocked 1150 on the Odo.. & still running it in patiently..
Haven't gone beyond 60Kmph yet.. Will breach the 60Kmph mark & take it to 100 post 1.5k on the Odo.. Full ripping beyond 2.5k..
                      Sounds fine to you?

Well, IMO you can start ripping your bike steadily from now on if your bike's 1st service is done...coz all the internal engine settings happen during the first few hundred kms...thats why its advised to change the oil and filter earlier than the manual says....rest all assured its upto you....cheers

                        • Repair Done

                          Guys,
Got my bike after repair..bill came upto Rs.4000..The front console, left side out panel, rear left side panel, tail lamps, small piece over the tail lamp, the tail holder(dont know what that is called..the metal thing which is provided for support),and a few screws were replaced. The labour charge was Rs.400..

It now looks like the same one which I had before the accident. BUt still scared a bit of riding freely.

                          • Lock problem...

@All: Yesterday something funny happened. I went to the petrol pump&asked him to fill full tank. Tried to open the fuel lid lock, but it refused to open! After sometime the petrol pump guys brought some 2T Oil&poured it into the lock. It opened. My gf&I were wondering how a new bike's lock could get spoilt so easily. Later we discovered that the right side of the keyhole covering was bent towards the inside, hence the tightness. Luckily the metal flap is working fine, so I will try to get the cover straightened.
This happens just by trying some other keys, or exerting extra force while using the locks. Please be careful with them, they are delicate.

@tibby: I ran in my bike below 60 for the 1st 1000kms. Gear shifts were at 3.5K-4K RPM. After 1000kms., I started taking her upto 7K RPM (100kmph) in top gear. Kept the gear shifts at same RPM. After 2K kms., full ripping in every gear. Now my engine is butter smooth. Though for city ideal gear shift would be around 5-6, sometimes when I'm in the mood, I redline her in all the gears!
                            Quench my thirst with gasoline!

At my time I did not check the mileage as I got it rectified very quick. If you are riding above 8 RPM then mileage is 30-35. And it takes a little time to come back to 40+. This is what I have noticed.
