haha,..ya i remember this day last year pretty well,..i remember i got up at 6 :00 am to see the power specification rated at 17ps, i was disappointed since i was expection 21 ps,but never the less,Yamaha proved that even 17ps with brilliant ergonomics and handling can be pushed real hard,..so cheers to Yamaha and all us proud owners of the YZF-R15!!!

My bike is due for 1st service tomo.. AFAIK, the main things to be done would be:
      - replacing oil filter
      - replacing engine oil

Is there anything else that I'm missing out on?
Plus, the engine oil that should be used is mineral oil, right?
Is there any specific (brand or rating) mineral oil that is recommended or the SVC guys can be banked upon to do the right thing?
      Thanks in advance!
Stick to Yamalube (mineral), Thats good for your bike. Rest all are things that come under general service.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

            • Went to the SVC this evening to get my chain lubed(&went for a rain ride soon after)
Anyways, here is the update on my 2 weird noises:
              1. The ticking noise from the disc is due to the worn out disc pads&low level of brake oil. Will be attended to in the next service when I get the pads replaced.
              2. The weird sound while idling is something gone kaput inside the clutch housing-some bushes or something. Will be taken to the company service engineer tomorrow to diagnose the exact problem.
Will update on this once I get some clarity.

once you change the brake pads, Oil level will be adjusted by itself.

                      • Got my bike's 1st service done..

Hey guys..! An update on my bike's 1st service..
Got it done today..Have clocked 1050 Kms as of now..
Got the oil filter & engine oil (YAMALUBE SW-Mineral) replaced, coolant topped up, & chain lubed.. Bill came to approx 800 bucks..
Rode it for just 12 Kms after the service, & it feels as smooth as it did before the service.. Maybe I need to run it a little more to feel any differences..

I just had 1 question: They told me that the battery need not be recharged everytime cuz its a dry battery, and so they didn't charge it? Is that fine?
I even saw that the service instructions don't mention about chrging battery, so i kept mum & didn't pester them to charge it.. Moreover its been only a month & 1000 Kms since I bought it, so battery charging need not be actually required, I thought later..

BTW, I also stealthily saw the Fazer (FZ-16/S with semi-fairing, in flesh) there..
Have posted the details here: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/763...tml#post226926

I don't get it but why do we need to charge the battery of a perfectly working bike? The bike charging system does exactly that whenever we ride the bike. Maybe if the bike is not ridden for a really long time, charging is required. Dry cell or wet cell does not matter here.
Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

                          • As someone already pointed out, there seems to be a little extra slack in the chain, get it tightened and you should be good to go.... Otherwise the chain seems to be fine!

ok.. Sorry i didn't know bout it.. Can you pls elaborate a bit on the battery charging for the R15..
The SVC manager was also mentioning yest about the battery getting charged automatically everytime the bike runs 10+ Kms continuously.. I had no clue about it, so thought maybe he is correct..

@kimikid & sveetvenom: Got my bike serviced @Perfect Riders yest.. They've done a good job.. Nothing that I have to complain about.. & I got the servicing done in my presence..
It took pretty long, as there were frequent power-cuts & so they couldn't wash the bike in time.. So had to wait long for that..
