All the people who are having difficulty in finding stock R15 tyres(front for 900Rs and rear for 1200 Rs) you will get them easily in Salem. I too looked for the tyre in Chennai but with no success. While going to Yercaud just out of curiousity I enquired a tyre dealer in Salem and he had stock .

I did a stricter run-in than what the manual recommends&I can say my engine is smooth enough, but I've seen some R15s ripped from the beginning&have a better initial pickup than mine. I haven't heard of anyone having a rough engine due to improper run-in yet. The vehicle is designed for ripping.
After trying out all types, I have settled down on changing gears at 4.5-5K RPM in traffic&5-6K RPM on open roads.

@TnT: 30&35 works for me too, contact patch is less on cornering, but mileage&ride quality with pillion is improved.
I finished 1000 km and first servicing in 8 days, after that I have been going to higher revs (around 9k, but consciously not till 10k) that too when the engine has warmed up properly.

There is one difference I found in the bike post servicing, that is there is a little more vibration especially at the area near the engine (above which we hug our knees around the tank) around 6-7k rpm, which was not there before. But the bike isn't making any weird marbles sound so tappets is out of the question.. but still, a little more vibey than before, is this normal or should I get it checked out?

Ya sarvajit anna, 30/35 is what I'm following religiously nowadays, I'm very comfortable with it. Didn't check mileage yet. I'm a noob so I didnt find much difference during cornering at 28/33 and 30/35.

It is there when you enter the city and also there is a Hyundai showroom next to it. The guy ordered 2 sets of tyres(front, back) when he ordered for me so he might still be having one set left. You can find all Salem MRF dealer phone nos on justdial. Before going there you can call them just to be sure.

          • Hey guys i am gonna get the front number plate removed amd get the number done on the visor or the front mudguard. What are thoughts about getting it done on either the visor or the mudguard? I am personally leaning towards the visor since that would be 100% road legal and plus the number on the mudguard would hamper the looks. Need suggestions please?

I personally feel that putting it on visor hampers the looks..
If you choose nice font, putting it on the mudguard makes it look stylish instead..

Don't compare them purely on basis of topspeeds. There is a world of difference in accelaration.

                        • Sarvajit mate i think you should keep your money in the bank for now. There is wide speculation going on right now about Yamaha unveiling it's 250cc in the 2010 Auto Expo in Delhi and Honda is on the fast track too with it's 250cc both of which are going to be locally manufactured. So that would bring down prices a lot and will give you options as well. If this space hots up Mahindra might also oblige. Until then keep riding the R15. Just my 2 cents.

Yamaha's Fazer 250 is a rumor, Bunny also confirmed it.
As for Honda, the bike will cost less, but I can't wait till 2011.
