Now this is making me think I'm joining the league of GS 150 cribbers!
If you notice at the filler side, there's a thing which blocks the fuel-wallah's pump's dispenser..right at the neck..this is the underside of that thing! :P

My tank had enough rust to block the FI pump when the fuel is low, and so, I had to clean it all off by myself in order to keep the bike running. And now, I even have problems with fuel pump pressure. And, the pump costs a bomb to be replaced!

So you dismantled the tank, removed the fuel&shot these pics. Why didn't you ask for a warranty replacement?
I'll get mine checked thoroughly too.
The fuel pump is about 7K.

Even I was expecting a price of around 800 bucks but 900 is a bit too much. Waiting for others R15 owners to test the AGIP now

Asked them to specifically check the engine mount bolts as well. There still is a hint of vibes so Ill try checking it myself over the weekend.

That's cos I couldn't get them to replace even a faulty fork-cone set under warranty for me. I've roamed for 2 months or more on that purpose and failed. I'll surely give this rust and fuel pump thingie a try though, but not expecting any action. They either postpone it till infinity, or say "there's nothing wrong".

Know what? There's a seperate instrument which needs to be used to check if the fuel pump is giving out required fuel pressure. If the pressure is less than needed, they need to replace the pump. I wonder if the guys at Pearl Yamaha would even know this concept, I don't expect them to have that instrument with them. The effects of this improper fuel pressure show up only when the fuel is low, like within the reserve level. The bike gasps like it's running out of fuel under full throttle in such situation.

But thankfully mine isn't showing signs of rusting anywhere except tank... I was thinking of removing stuff and manually spraying paint from a can onto rust prone areas (like the front stay..) once my bike does 1yr...
                  slightly off topic.

svj... if your bike is from the first lot then how come it has not yet completed 1 year ...mine is 1.4 yrs old and not from 1st lot i guess.

What? Phew... Anyways, I don't have the correct figures, plus I'm stuck at home for sometime... Can't find out...

@ Sunny- You removed the pump na? Any special instructions? Am thinking of checking mine and stopping any rust if I see it...

EDIT- @ Reuterian- Mine was kept in the dealer's godown for long. He had ordered more of Blacks, but Blue's were selling fast... So luckily got one from the 1st lot...
                    BTW 19th is my bike's b'day...!

                      • @all.....

I know this is a question mostly asked in this forum but due to the shortage of rear tyres.. can anyone suggest a possible replacement.. that fits well and wont affect performance.....

                        Comment

                        • More than the performance , its the shape , the whole shape of the tire itself is completely different , You ll not get the curvature like on the stock tire.

There are options , But id still say get the stock .

Background |: The alloys of my R15 seem to be feeble enough for a ride through the rough potholes of our roads. Read through certain blogs to know that there have been various instances of alloys bent due to similar unpleasant incidents.

Query |: Is it possible to swap the rear alloy with that of FZ 16 and the rear alloy to the front one, keeping the tyres stock and not fiddling much with the swingarm?

I understand the FZ16 alloy doesnot have rear disc as stock, however, there are various places in Karol Bagh where they install the disc fitmet into FZ's alloy.

FZ's rear alloy is around 4 inches wide versus R15's which is around 2.5 inches wide. Its such to provide a rounded shape to the rear tyre of R15 to support its amazing cornering capabilities. Understandable. However, I just need to know it FMI.

Has anyone in this forum tried anything of this sort? If yes, what is the outcome? If no, what are the possible issues in that?

                            Responses and views requested.

Question left un-noticed or is it ignored?

yesterday i was riding pillion in my frnd's R15..the road was empty but, the bike did not cross 90kmph in 6th gear with the throttle wide open..had half tank fuel and normal tyre pressure..sometimes the bike jerks for 2-3seconds like its out of fuel, then it gets normal.....what could be the reason??
