  • Wait....wait????????????????

From past 3 months i had been reading this thread, magzines etc & decided about to buy R15.
2 months it took me to convince my dad to buy me this bike.
Today i dont know what happened, my dad told me " we'll book it today"
I was so happy. i was on the seventh heaven.
but my happiness had a short life.
I called up 4 yamaha shrowooms in mumbai, all stating "2 months waiting period for r15"
i was pissed- sad--frustrated....dont know when i'll get my bike!.

And when i told him that i need it on emi of 1 year..he said i wil have to give a downpayment of 40,000 and with interest rate of 9% wich would get the instalment of 7024 per month...

according to my calculations, i'l be geting loan of 72,000 with 9% interest, right? So that means by the end of the year i'l have them paid 72,000 (the loan amt) + 6480 (that is interest.)...= 78480..
So if we divide the 78480(total amt) by 12 months, the instalments should be 6540...so why is he chargin me 7024 per mth?
I got a similar quote from Bangalore Wheels. When enquired, he said RTO charges are not covered. That didnt make any sense to me. I just took the whole thing as interest. This is how people make money in financial services.

A PSU bank (if you know anybody there) might be a better option.

Yeah dude, your calculations are right. I dont see any extra 'RTO' cost, because 1.12 lakhs is the on-road price of the motorcycle, which includes EVERYTHING. I mean if u plonk down 1.12 L on the table, he will literally give u the keys to the bike, and ask u to come for the papers (All - insurance, road tax, T/R) in a few days. (provided there's no booking period :P)

My friend, book it as fast as you can, if you haven't already. Till then, trawl this thread and find the tidbits of information that xBhp R15ers have come across through their association with their steeds. It's what I did, though there was only a 3 week waiting period for me. It will be that much more special once you finally get it delivered.

                          Hi Fellow R15ers,

I bought R15 19 days ago and done with 900Kms, I am planing to give the bike for servicing. Wanted to know:

                          1. If there is a better recommended Engine Oil for R15? Earlier, I was using Powerone for my Pulsar.

                          2. Also is it necessary to give the bike for servicing only when it reaches 1K? or can I give it before that -- Would I be eligible for the warranty if I give the bike for first service before 1K?

                          3. What would be the rough estimation charges levied on first service?

The above questions could be silly ones..but wanted to be a little more caring for my headsturner.

                              • ANSWERS are in BOLD.

                                Hi Fellow R15ers,

I bought R15 19 days ago and done with 900Kms, I am planing to give the bike for servicing. Wanted to know:

Stick to the Yamalube mineral oil 20w40. Try other engine oils after 3k kms when you can switch to synthetic.

                                2. Also is it necessary to give the bike for servicing only when it reaches 1K? or can I give it before that -- Would I be eligible for the warranty if I give the bike for first service before 1K?

It is NECESSARY you give the bike before 1k, or they will NOT accept your service coupon for 1st free service. If by chance you give the bike after it has crossed 1k kms, then you'll either have to pay a fee for the service or use the 2nd free service coupon (not recommended).
I gave mine for servicing at 960 kms on odo.

                                3. What would be the rough estimation charges levied on first service?

The service itself is free, you will have to pay for the consumables.

Oil filter (original YAMAHA spare, plz check before they install) - 430/-
                                Engine oil (Yamalube Mineral 20w40) - 185/-
Coolant top-up if necessary (usually MOTUL motocool) - 50/-

                                And of course, taxes extra.

The above questions could be silly ones..but wanted to be a little more caring for my headsturner.

I had the same questions last week. Just be careful that you use all the free service coupons in time (before the reqd kms are up). Keep the manual safely coz it has all the coupons for all your services. Replacing a lost manual through the company is hell.

No. The ECU will NOT adapt to the changes.
