Main thing is that get ur air pressure right always that the tire takes the beating and not the alloy.
Give me a reason as to how the p150 alloy is better in any sense.Does heavier mean stronger ?

When u get a bad pothole , the so much praised Zma enkei alloys have also bent . So Its nothing to do with that a pulise alloy can withstand any beating.

    That was my 2 cents.
Do let me know after the circusb has been completed.
    Santa
Yes, pulsar alloys are bit stronger than our R15 and ZMA's alloy's are bit more stronger than the pulsar alloys. conclusion R15 alloys are light weight, good for performance but are not that good to take all the potholes that we find on indian roads. As every one know we have heard the stories of many broken R15 alloys compare to any other bikes.

Finally I dropped the idea of fixing the p150 alloy as it doesn't have a provision to fix the disc brakes. So guys thanks alot for your suggestions....

To be honest, I know ur asking this because Fazer's RVM looks better than R15 RVM's.
But belive me the RVM of R15 are much, much more useful and better than Fazers.

Finally, Yes! U can fix the RVM(Rear View Mirror) of Fazer on R15.

            • Hello R Guys

              Hello Everyone,

I;m new here, but have been reading the posts and threads in this community regularly. You people really make the obsession a PASSION!

Anyways, a small thing which all of you must have already been asked. But still Once more..
I;m getting my Blue R15 this thursday. Just wanted to ask all of you, that should I be checking anything once i get it? Like the coolant level, because some of you said it was less when some of you get it. Any small, and quick checks I should be doing once I get in the showroom and then anything to keep in Mind for the 1st 2-3 days, except the Engine Run in ofcourse.
And, Engine Run in is exactly what? Is it driving at 60-70 at high gears or just 60-70 in the right gear? should I be keeping the Rpm low?

i agree to your point. R15's alloys aren't bad in make and quality as people assume it to be. Like Santa... i too have been moving around places which are not meant for 15's.

Santa, I hope you remember when pranays p220 front alloys gave away when met with a pot hole aka crater last year on NICE road. This is not just one off case..... it can happen with any bike of any make at any time on any place in Indian sub terrian.

To be frank, I have bent my Scorpio's alloy when I hit a crater doing 80+. And its made by HINDALCO!! So no surprises for any bike's alloys. All u need to do is to use ur brain before hitting a pothole.

                    Haha! :P well put :P

My bike survived K-Top! And several other off-road sessions. I think the alloys on the R15 are quite underestimated. They do a fine job. I've hit some bad pot holes at high speeds and have come out without any issues so far. It still remains to be seen if there will be any issues in the future but IMO its only a few guys here who have problems with alloys during day to day usage. So it may not be an issue faced by everyone. But as Apar put it,you need to watch out for potholes in the first place!

                    • +1 to the alloys being strong!

I have hit a huge crater at 90+ & have come out of it flying (literally).. Luckily, no harm to the front alloys, even after taking that huge hit..

Apart from that, I have hit several bumps/ potholes at high speeds.. & the alloys show no sign of damage.. So maybe it has also got to do with how the bike comes out of the pothole, apart from how it hits it!

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

                            • Mostly The reason being bend/broken alloys due to potholes is the wrong tyre pressure, misjudging, wrong entry, lack of concentration etc!

I wouldnt, not at any rate, say that the Yamaha alloy quality is weired.
Honestly entering a creatar at 100+ is the last thing one will do or one can do. (coming out and staying alive are questionable) but I have done that and mind you, sevrel times I had managed to come out riding on wheels insted of wheels riding on me!

So every 2nd morning before starting off for grocery shop or a trip to Andaman and Nicobar do not forget to check/judge the tyre pressure!

Try to enter the pothole in the most vertical way and come out of it in the same way!

Always keep an eye on road(if there are no girls around) and try judging the pothole, whether its deep, shallow but big, or any type, and try avoiding it!

Do not squeeze ur break to fullest or do not let the breaks go free coz you cannot avoid the pothole.

If you cannot avoid, but want to slow down the fastest way then use combined breaking(60% front, 40% rear) and as you stroll nearer to the pothole shift the breaking from 60/40 to 40front n 60rear so that ur front wont suddenly skid or go bam in the pot due to over pressurised forks!

Finally the swiftness of your brain plus ur limbs plus ur senses plus your eyes in reacting on the situation before it goes out of control is very important!!

                              Regards,
                              Shanz
