Anyways now that the 1st servicing is done, Im taking it upto 7k rpm everyday. Wow the bike is deceptively quick, the engine is more audible & ocmbined with the handling it is a real treat. VFM buy for sure. Waiting patiently to complete 3k after which Ill open it out beyond 7k.
Actually you don't need to wait till 3K, engines get run in within the first 500 km. itself, but sustained high RPM operation is advised for a longer time, as new engines tend to get overheated very quickly.
I would say do it gradually. Don't rev each gear upto 7K RPM though. Though I stuck to <4K RPM for the 1st 1000kms., I used to take her to 7K RPM (100kmph) every day after that, upto 2K km. After that hell broke loose!
Gear shift always takes place at 3.5-4K RPM in city, 5-6K RPM on highways, though I do ride her roughly once in a while to check for unusual noises. Tappets will eventually become loose(mine became at around 5K)&manual recommends adjusting valve clearance at 6K kms. service.
    Quench my thirst with gasoline!

I got two cans during the power hunt .can I use them ???

If it is the cone set you should get the sound when you go over undulations on the road - speed breakers, pot holes etc.... it it is a faint and rhythmic tac tac sound when accelerating then check your tappets.

        ah, welcome to the club.

I was not against the oil. I didn't try it myself yet and was comparing it with nothing. Neil has just finished his first service and over that these costly synthetics would still need to be replaced at every service to stick to warranty purpose.

I am surprised that the Power1 Racing lasts only 2.5 - 3K KMs that too in the R15!!!

        • @darkknight: sure but it is really of no use if your bike has done <5k Kms.

Which is why I advised him to go for the Yamalube semi-synth, inspite of the cost factor. It need not be changed at every service, atleast thats what was said to me.
Waiting to see the the condition of the Yamalube semi-synth oil on the 5th service in a couple of weeks time. Don't ask me why I didn't check it on my own-you know I don't wanna damage that oil cap accessory for Rs.700 which got damaged by them once&I was given a free replacement. It can be opened only with a ring paana which I don't have. Will wait for them to remove it&if they damage it, its once again their headache!

do you feel like the bike has no petrol in it? try giving in the throttle slowly.if this happens it is the spark plug..it gives a tup tup sound....

EDIT: Chennai guys, have you got your Road tax certificate from your dealer?

When i asked them, they said that they don't provide it now a days. its just mentioned in the RC.
Got my babe from Ambal motors.

Indeed... the R125 looks almost like the R6. There are more cut & paste sections from R125 manual!

                        • @ Surbhit, sarvajit, Hydbiker - thanks for the inputs on the engine oil guys. Was quite confused on it.

@ Sarvajit - thanks for the heads up on the delicate oil cap & the run-in. Was planning on getting my hands dirty for the 1st time this weekend by checking the coolant level & oil level etc etc. Will be careful. Wrt the run-in, I shift usually by around 5 - 5.5k (hangover of the earlier pre 1st service self imposed 5k restriction) and once Im in top gear I keep it between 6.5 - 7k. Will continue till 2000 kms are done.

I didn't mean to say that the oil cap is delicate. Mine has the accessory E/G Oil Level Gauge cap, which is delicate&the ends can be damaged when removing with a spanner. If yours is the stock rubber one, you can go ahead&check it. You may need a cutting plier to unscrew it coz the SVC guys tighten it too much.
As for the coolant level, you don't need to open anything. Just bend beside the gap in the LHS fairing-you'll see the coolant box. Keep the bike upright&then shake it a bit, you'll know the level. It should be well above the Low mark.

Try SHAH MOTORS in Ramkoti(Near shalimar theatre). Its an authorised yamaha dealership. Stand+pin+spring=749INR. Got one fixed on mine today.

I hear a huge thud sound when I remove the bike off the main-stand! What could be the reason?!

Btw, I got the 2nd service done 10days back. Lately, I have noticed that the numbers on the adjusting plates on the either side of the swingarm are mismatching. The number(groove) on the right adjusting plate is one up. I brought it to the notice of the mechanic(today, when I went to get the main-stand fixed) who serviced my bike back then. He said that he did it intentionally as the same number on the either side is making the chain too tight. At times, I get a feeling that the performance has taken the beating(after I discovered the diff in the plates). Not much though. Prior to the discovery, I didnt find any diff in the ride.

                                Guys, your inputs are needed!
