    guys problem!!!!

my hard days with my baby continues

i mentioned earlier i had a crash with a bus....from then on i experience annoying vibrations from almost every part of the bike(visor, front fairing, tail lamp, everythin)....while getting the bike repaired, i told to the guy at the SVC about all the problems...strangely he didnt do any good to the bike....yesterday again i went to the SVC and to my annoyance the guy there was clue less from where vibes are coming....

    1. now, the main problem for me is the vibrations from the visor and
(i mentioned this earlier) the movement and sounds from the left foot peg... i was told to lubricate the chain regularly and im doing so, but the movement and sounds come back....
at the SVC, after checking the problem for hell lot of time, he said that chain sprocket has to be changed, where i ve just done 6.1k kms...is it the reason?
wont comment on this, as im not too experienced..

    2. secondly the pick up of the bike has decreased tremendously after the third service....help me on this....
from what i've read till now, all i know that the culprit for the vibes and the loss in pick up could be loost tappets, incorrect valve clearance. it is recommended to be checked every 3000kms.

    3. another thing, while driving in the city, how do u guys rev the bike? i usually try to rev it very hard....is this fine for city riding?
you mean "riding" in the city..there is no need to rev it hard..keep it below 5000rpms while riding normally..shift gears judiciously..don't stress the engine.. the revving the bike hard in city thing adds to the suspicion that the tappets are the culprits.
    [/QUOTE]
    4. at the SVC i ve seen a bike on which DAYTONA filters were installed(correct me if im wrong)...when asked, i was told it was done for about 3500 bucks, n the thing that excited me the most was the exhaust note....is it fine for the bike?
you mean k&n filters i guess..although it increases the performance marginally, it isn't good for the bike.
i would like to quote my mechanic who on asked the same question replied - it is same as instead of breathing from your nose you breathe from your mouth..!! as i read earlier on the forum, our bike's injection system is open looped. it doesn't have a oxygen level sensor and hence won't be correctly able to judge the fuel requirements of the engine. till the sound part is concerned, personally i like the original more.

Shifting at 10,000 Rpm ensures that you are in the meat of the powerband. Also, u get the maximum speed that can be achieved on each gear.

      • Guys I'm facing a small problem with my left switchgear.
It's the horn switch. Ideally after pressing the horn switch it should return back to it's original position but now it's getting stuck. Can it be repaired or I'll have to change the entire switch gear???

Shift at 9,000RPM for Maximum power output. Personal opinion/experience.

Try accelerating with another guy on a R15 ( Duh ) and ask him to shift at 9,000RPM and you try shifting at 10,000RPM or 10,500RPM and you can see who moves ahead!

No Offense Brother! Just sharing my opinion!

You cant repair it . I had the same issue the pass switch and the horn switch stopped working i opened the switch to see it some parts were broke. Would suggest go get a new set and replace the entire switch panel.

                Hey Guys,

Well I am following xbhp since long, but never posted in this thread, now I have a reason to do so.. Got a R15!!

Previously I had a Unicorn for 7 months then P200 for 6 months and now the R15 and I am sure gonna keep this one for long. I know what you all will be thinking, that I am changing bikes so frequently, but there were some other concerns which popped up hence I was changing and moving forward.

Anyways, here's about the R15... got the delivery on 1st and now already clocked 950 kms or so with in a week! Going for 1st service tomorrow mostly. Well there is only one word to define a R15... Awesome!! with respect to indian bikes available with in 1.5L price range (on road). Extremely flick-able, good punch when in the power band.. and of course the road presence it has. Vibrations are very low, and the engine sound is also with in limits.

The lower end although suffers a bit and need frequent gear shifts. With pillion it is again a bit of pain to pull fast, but it's pros are much higher than these small cons.

Kept it below 5000 rpm for first 500 kms. Keeping it below 7500 rpm at present, just a couple of time went up to 9000. Touched a top speed of 123 with a pillion, and the feeling was great!

Overall I am totally satisfied with my machine, here is a snapshot without riding gears... (which I always wear though)

                Just R15ing...

I also face this issue. When the engine is not warm, the ideal RPM fluctuates. However , when the engine gets warm, the RPM meter settles to a steady RPMaround 1300 0r 1400.

                  • Help for 1st servicing

Guys, Already completed 900k and going in for the 1st servicing tomorrow.. Any help regarding the below issues is much appreciated.

                    1. Other than the regular stuffs done in 1st servicing, what should I look for??

                    2. I am planning to stick to the Yamalube Mineral one(Will change to SS after 4000-5000k). Which will be better, 5W40 or 10W50??

                    3. I have already noted rust on the handlebar screws, chain and the swingarm any remedies??

                    4. Noticed that the engine is bit rough after the 700k, can feel some vibrations in the tank and handlebars. Is this normal??

                    5. Mileage is 42-45. Should I look for better as I am not that rev happy person and keep it below 5000-6000 rpm max of the time?

                    Thanks a lot in advance..

@rajit999: Maybe I can manage the stand of rx100 here. Have to see how does it fit on R15. I remember someone posted pic about it and it looked fine.

@veyron999: Mine is stable. I'm not sure what is the main problem here but I do remember it happened on my pulsar and service guys cleaned the plug, air-filter and suggested me that, next time take the oil from another trust station except where I used to. I did and it disappear.

@D coolest: Congratulation man. The yellow color is my fav color among 4 of them. Hence you already have passed 900km, after 1st service, I suggest you to keep the rpm bellow 7K till 2000km.

Thanks Buddy! I also had no doubt on colors to choose from. Although I also liked black, but it is a bit common, while the yellow is eye catchy (The only concerns are it is also catchy for people who fiddles with it :x )

I will surely keep it below 7K rpm till 2000 kms.

Any suggestions for Engine Oil change? should I go for motul 5100T SS?? Or it is good to keep it on mineral oil for a couple of thousand kms? what do you think guys?

I will appreciate your views on the same.

Any reason why to keep the rpm below 7K? I broke in my R15 as per the intruction manual. i.e kept her under 5K for the first 500Ks and under 7.5K rpms for the next 500.once the first service was done i opened her up and go all the way till 10K. And the manual also says that rev the bike freely till 7.5 K rpm during the 500- 1000 Kms. Till now my bike has done 2.1K and is a absolute treat to ride her all day.

I had a crash last month after which this problem started... Got my bike back from SS a week ago with a new switch gear(left-hand side) and only after 3 days the second set has stopped working. Can it be due a faulty electrical system???

ah then check for the connectors . Could be loose contact.
