why you want NOS in your R15? you were at R15 community on orkut today with the same question right?

for your answer according to me first of all there is no need of it in india atleast and secondly NOS for a 150cc mill producing 17 bhp is quite unusual NOS is for higher cc engines and for professional racing where life of engine does not matter if you want to ride your bikes for few months and then scrap it then go for it

      • the power produced by fitting an nos may result in failure of engine components. if the r15 produced 17ps with say 250 cc then nos would not fail the engine.also over the course of time nos will corrode the engine parts.

I am not sure, but how does a NOS setup work?

I have seen a ZMA and an FZ back here with a NOS kit... thos things were crazy yet fun!

          • NOS cylinders are bulky. You will be carrying few kgs unnecessarily. NOS is not for punny 150cc mills. I ill suggest go for it if you are professionally into illegal racing and can afford to change crank, piston, head and block frequently. Also, higher cc bike engines are designed with higher FOS, considering boost up in future. People who professionally use NOS, go for performance pistons and other allied components. Coming to gearbox, when NOS is triggered, the power shoots to roughly 1.5 times than stock naturally aspired condition, with jerk. This demands for clutchplates with higher co-efficient of friction and ultimately stronger spring, inviting hydraulic clutch. Gears, and then chain sprocket also need to be boost ready.
There's lot to it other than saddle....

There was a karizma R on here which had NOS installed. he told me the whole kit was only for 9K. so.... i think maybe R15 can handle it. Tough Built Engine.

The correct way to check is dis-assembling, and checking the pads. If the wear markers are worn off, the pads need to be replaced.

I'm using my pads beyond the wear indicators, because they still have some life, even after the indicators are worn off. The only thing here is you must replace before the pads wear down to metal and ruin the disc.

Firstly, use complete words. I missed the last line.

NOS can be installed, you'll have to select the correct boost pressure, otherwise the engine won't be able to take it.

butt yes, you'll be wearing out your engine extremely fast. Not recommended at all for a streetbike.
                You get the point?? :D

                • I read in the FZ16 ownership thread that the FZ and the R15 share the same chain. Is this correct? Has anyone installed the FZ chain?

If so, is there any change in performance? or noise?

Seems the FZ chain is cheaper, and hence the query

They're not the same, but yes, it can be used.

No, man, the chains are not the same. But they FZ chain fits the R15. Navnish has been using it, no issues, AFAIK.

My first priority is Exhaust note... hate the current exhaust note of R15... want to sound it like a sports bike.. and also heard that the performance will be good... Will it harm the bike????

Can U please elaborate on it... I just browsed the net for list of cone filter manufacturers.. and found K&N filter to be best... one can get those filters over here from the price ranging from as low as 300 to 5000... of course, the higher the better... I dont want to compromise on engine though... Thanks, but please elaborate more on it...

Installing NOS & using it is way different thing than sustaining and continuing with it.
