  • @SID13 - by restructuring i meant certain changes that are being carried out in the production process. For eg, like i posted before, the new R15s are coming with the clutch housing and plates of the FZ.

      • @JD, Ok...even I heard about the part sharing with FZ, could that be a compromise on quality, or are they equally good?

        If its done to keep the inventory cost down then its fine...but if the very component is low cost and lesser in quality that would be a let down..

            If i were you i would still stick to the stock tyre! Michellins are good, but for r15 i beleive the stock would be the best!

              As paper filter will get damaged even if little amount of water goes into it ..

              rather plonk on after market filter like K&N and remove the top cover , as cotton gauge or foam filters can withstand water to some extent cause oil coated over them !!
              it is common sense that water will spoil paper filter. as soon as the monsoon begins i ll install the new air box cap that i have ordered(which i'll get in a week). i wash my bike rarely so no problem.

                • @ onlinesatish ... stock tyres are good but again people complain of having punctures quite often , this tyre having better treads will definetly have some advantage over the stock ones ... and secondly i didn't say to change tyre profile , so no affect on performance !! 2.75 front and 3.25 at rear will do a great job !!

                  @akhil ... rain doesn't stop for monsoons so be prepared for that as well buddy , and FYI you need to buy a complete air filter box cause you don't get seperate covers , which means you will be paying around 1-1.5k ... Don't you think buying a after Pod filter a better option now without damaging the cover ??

                  @sheelpriye .. welcome bro !!

                    who told this ?i had already ordered for the air box cap and ill get it in a week.i did the entire setup myself and hence no need for a mechanic to install and unistall the cover. ill do it in five minutes.the order has already been placed by my mechanic. i ll tell you the cost when i get it.

                        Remember me . I think somewhere in my answers I insisted that higher viscosity oil can lead to overheating of engine. Feel like saying it, so i will: "I TOLD YOU SO"

                        Ok, jokes apart, what do you mean by problem temporarily solved?

                          i wanted to share this information with you guys.. my friend did the above. though he went a lil extreme, and removed the swingarm and everything to remove the chain completely. Then he dipped it in diesel overnight, and then in the morning washed it, dried it, and lubed it with ep90 gear oil. The chain is as good as brand new.

                          The issue with the wax type motul/yamaha lube lubricants are that they are not exactly suited to the indian dusty conditions. They tend to attract a lot of muck and dirt... So the ideal way to do so is to use kerosene/diesel and then either the chain spray lube, or use gear oil. Gear oil will last slightly longer than chain lube, and will reduce the squeaking noise of the chain.

                              Thanks for the info JD but it is exactly not possible to unhook the whole swingarm and stuff,
                              i had asked my mech that whether i can use brush dipped in diesel/kerosene, clean the chain and lube it(this is the practice i followed in my earlier motorcycles), to which he replied NO, as it is an O-ring chain, it would be okay even if you wash it throughly with car wash-his idea is to clean it without damages, no brushes, brittles etc, post which use ep90 gear oil,
                              he said you may use the Yamalube products(i have both with me) when you are out riding on high-ways and not regular country stuff

                              @chiragh--your info about Michelin is probably incorrect, Mr. Gaurav Lal, who is on various forums has replied in negative

                                No need to do that, just open the chain lock and the chain seperates from the ends.
