@Prakritij: You reminded us a lot about the early Yamaha days! If you are buying the bike then congrats! and if that dry lube is for 400Rs (YAMAHA spray can) then buy 5 for me

If I go for it, I'll have to give up all my savings and then some.....but I think it'll be worth it
P.S.: convinced my Parents somehow but haven't told them about the price though.....GOD help me

Don't go for it-it will educate you as to what a real sportbike should feel like, and you will start craving for something bigger very soon, then the misery of not being able to afford anything bigger starts.Originally posted by Prakritij View Post

@Prakritij.
Sarvajit is absolutely right. You will also vist sites like
www.denniskirk.com, www.ridersdiscount.com, www.newenough.com and try to find the best closeout deal that you can afford. Much cheaper than India and great brands / bargains...
Anyway you can use gear for your next BIG bike right? so why not buy good stuff now...thats how the logic goes...and you'll spend office time on...
It's a virtuous circle mate...

First, I myself applied tape on the stickering lines and R15 logo to protect it. Then, i took to a local paint shop and asked him to paint it red. AFAIK, he applied two layers of paint, first a silver coating and on it the red colour. Then i carefully peeled off the tape and thats it. He didnot spray any lacquer but before the paintjob he applied some substance all over it (maybe primer). But he advised to be careful because the paint might come off easily!! Now it is hard to tell how many days it stays...Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostThat looks like a pretty neat job from the pics atleast!
Please let us know the procedure followed.
Did you ask him to spray lacquer after the final coat? Was primer applied so that the paint sticks to the plastic?
Oops! I see you have a grey tankpad as well. Man, why didn't you tell me earlier-you get red tankpads too!
Now don't think about getting that painted as well-let it be as it is, its looking good enough.
And i have no idea about the red tankpads. I think that there is only the grey tankpad available for all the 15's. Anyway it looks good on any colour of R15.
@Satyen, No i didnt remove the old paint. I just painted on the existing one itself.2009 YAMAHA YZF-R15

I was looking forone for myself...would need a pump to fill the air aswell..i guess a footpump(with a pressure gauge) would be appropriate for home use..but slightly difficult to carry.Originally posted by karthik_R View PostJust because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Would it be possible for you to put up the pics here ? Am not on FBOriginally posted by satyenpoojary View Post^ some pics on my FB profile.... they are good and sturdy enough!
Am cool with the slight loss of handling as long as I can carry more stuff. Thanks !Originally posted by Aparajith View PostSaddle bags will fit. No probs... Be wary of the tail section. Since its sharp, its prone to loose the paint due to the rubbing. And be prepared to give up some handling.

@all the speed freaks out here...
When I weighed almost a ton, I hit 139 on the speedo on NH7. Crouched and put all body parts into respective crevices... this includes elbows!
Chain shud be lubed
Bike shud be warmed up properly
Tire pressures shud be a little on the higher side
God should be blowing some air on your back..
(no offence meant)
Now, I will check when I'm 85kg, and so forth, lol
