  • ^^My take , change it , once a fracture , ur never back to 100 percent , even if treated by the best guy in town :-)

the tubes cost hardly anything , its better getting new ones than getting the bend removed.
I do not believe in hydraulic lathes , cos its is operated finally by humans , the chances of it not being right is more .
Be it a fork or chassis , or even a handle . Replace is my suggestion.

Well, no one better than u knows about my experience with the Pulsar. Thats why thought of doing this.

@GP: U shud try my bike man. Then u will understand how it feels. I have gone down the straightening option. Not much change. PM me the details. Let me see.

        +1
Replacing is a better option, unless the job is done really well. But for sure, they will lose some strength.
        You get the point?? :D

        • @ santoosh/Svjhonda - You are right about the fracture, but remeber this, "Bones ain't metal".

A tube/Rod.Beam/Plate, when bent up to certain degree, will have no change to its molecular/Grain structure. It can be brought back to its original shape without any residual Stress/Strain.( A mech degree will help you understand this better)

Not sure how far the above statement will hold good for a bone.

About the chasis and Handle, its always advised to replace them since they are not one straight line. There are too any referene and angles to take care.

I may be wrong, if so pardon my ignorance.

Ok. If you are changing the tubes, then am ready to take the damaged ones for salvage value. I am really looking for it

          • ^^ I would gladly straighten out the front forks on my bullet, but not on the R15, since the handling would go for a toss.

            - The R15, forks are quite decently strong, so im sure they should be able to take a correction after a bending, and can be re-used.

            - The only issue is that if there are any cracks to the hard chromed surface of the tubes, it will cause leakage and could create further issues with oil-seals etc later on.

            - The impact on performance after repair would surely be more mentally, than that could be felt otherwise.

So eventually its a matter of pocket and belief, what you give more importance and if you could/should go for it.

I would suggest doing both things, straightening them out, and buying new ones, keeping the straightened ones as spares for a later day, just in case.

                  • @Apar and Ganesh : the usp of R15 is its handling. What good is the bike which doesnt inspire confidence ? If I were you I would have replaced the entire front suspension set up.

@ Apar: did you check the tire wear, wheel bearings?

                        • @Karthik: tires are new da. Am slightly skeptical of the alloys and handlebar itself. Bearings are good. Problem is that the left handle bar appers/feels lower than the right

@Ganesh: Its not like am a millionaire. Handling comes second. I dont care if it handles bad. Am having back ache due to this stupid seating posture. Am not prepared to sacrifice my back for anything!!

Chain, chain sprocket - front, chain sprocket - rear, oil filter, air filter, break pads - rear, brake pads -front, spark plug and engine oil.

                            mielage/kms covered- nearly 25000. service number-8th and 9th combined.

and yes, i am not getting this done in SVC centre,

my friend who used to complain about the back ache ,is now undergoing therapy treatment for his back ,he has also sold his r15 and is now looking to buy the gsr150 after his med bills went through the roof.
i can only blame the heavy traffic for this as even i get wrist pain after riding in traffic on my fz

                              • Does anyone have an idea how much the left side foot peg frame costs?..the one to which the heel gaurd is connected. The fell off the pavement and apart from scratches i've got a broken footpeg assembly
Cant even ride it to the nearest Service center..so will be fixing it at home.
