Uhh, the speedo sensor isn't a normal one. So there's no lubing the cable! At best there's a tab on the alloy which fits into the sensor and turns it while the wheel rotates. That can be lubed (which is pretty well lubed from factory). Other than that its got to be replaced if faulty speeds are noticed.Originally posted by Sarvajit View Post
No, no worries. Try rolling the throttle gently, the sound changes as the engine revs up to 5000rpm & beyond. That hum is unlike any other I've heard! Still gives me the willies!Originally posted by Shivanshu View Post

yeah the hum is very sweet actually, though I would be keeping my bike under 7500rpm for another 500kms as I want her to gt accustomed to the city riding condition, as you know I rode 600odd kms in a day during run-in period, thats why I am taking this step

Here is a link to a Sport Rider web page on how to clean and lubricate the chain: Ask the Geek: Clean Your Chain - Sport Rider MagazineOriginally posted by akshay View PostP.J. Harvey correctly mentions how a lube which forms a protective film on O-ring chains benefits the chain as well as the sprocket. The Yamaha Lube (Dry Type) is the ideal solution coupled with a chain cleaner like Motul. Pictures of both as well as costs can be found in this thread.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

as long as you are not opening the throttle fully, and are keeping the bike below 7000 rpm, aal izz well!!!
so now they are giving minda maintenance free. They are actually cheaper to replace than the yuasa ones, which are incidentally not available in the market also!!

JD - should it be below 7000rpm or 7500rpm?
though once or twice I have touched 8000rpm but hardly for few seconds

^^ i followed below 7000 rpm for the first 1000 kms, and no full throttle, and no engine braking ( or minimum engine braking ). i dint have the user manual to guide me at that time, but the dealer advised me to keep it below 7000.

okie that ways - my bike has done around 1200kms I was following the 5500rpm till first 500kms and then 7500rpm for next 500kms. but since in the first 1000kms I did Lucknow - Delhi around 600kms thats why I am still keeping the bike under 7500rpm for the another 500kms

A complete dude , two buttons open of his white shirt , after observing my r15 from a distance ; crossed the road and came over to me to ask- " Naya Pulsar??? " . I didn't have an answer to that one , just kept staring at him.sigpic
