It is a fact that the default number plate position takes away a lot of oomph from the bikes aesthetic value. Also its understood that the repurcussions (from traffic cops) of placing the number plate eslewhere varies largely from city to city.

I expect to take the delivery of the bike sometime next week, can Trivandrum/ Kerala R15 owners chip in with their experiences with non default position of number plates...so that i can take a wise decision.

    Thanks...
I have sticker-ed on the windshield midway, I liked this better than the one on the front mudguard don't know about cops, the bike manufacturers should get the RTO to change rules like sari guards well catch a biker who has pillion wearing sari without one instead of it being standard all round

I also shifted my No.plate from mudguard to windshield as the cops suggested they would raise ticket if cought again

ah! 30-35 in city and 48 on highway!!!

I get nothing less than 38 in city and nothing more than 42 on highways. My riding on highways is similar to what you have mentioned. I weigh ~78 KGs and my gear would weigh another 5-7 KGs. I carry at least 5-7 KGs luggage most of the times on the highway.

whats the average you are getting???
On city ride am also getting a mileage of 35-38 kmpl using ordinary simple petrol and Castrol Activ 4T.
Got a mixed highway mileage of 45kmpl while riding upto 127 kph and mostly around 100kmph but one time got 55kmpl while riding 100kmph max and mostly 70-80 kmph again same constitution of oil and mobil... I am happy about it... Personally, mileage depends on thousand conditions.. we can't be sure about the similarity between variant riders...

            • ^^^ Pressure was right Santa. In fact, a little more than required to counter the tiny leakage overnight.

Didn't you change your tyres in 30K KMs? I am running stock at 22.5K and would change both the tyres at 24K max.

                  • ^^ well IMO you can take all the gears to the limited RPM level as per run-in condition, but yes the weather is great hence in traffic avoid this situation. The rpm level can be anywhere between 4000-5500rpm in traffic conditions and also depending on the rider's riding style.

                    • Guys I'm finally doing it, gonna book 1 R15 for myself tomorrow morning. I want the bike the exact day my exams end (14th of may) and with the delivery period, the best pick will be to book the bike before-hand and hope they can deliver on the required day.

Excited as hell, can't sleep tonight so might as well study. Xbhp has taught me so much, from helping me pick the bike that I always yearned for to teaching me how important a good helmet is. Xbhp rocks

I wish that I can get the bike on 14th as 15th being a saturday, mother won't let me take delivery on 15th and I really really want to join the G2G on 16th....Fingers crossed

                        • ^^ check tyre pressure. Also, were you present when they changed the engine oil?? coz my friend got his fz16 serviced at a particular service station, and after the service the bike was having a hard time accelerating upto to a 125cc HH glamour. Reason for this: used engine oil was put in the bike.

We were so pissed off at the A.S.S., now he gets the service done via a local mechanic.
