  • Just gave bike for 4th service today at orion..the person incharge is saying i have to change my rear disk pads according to him it will last for another 500kms, but i have a doubt i havent done single stunt or burn out or anything not even a long ride and dont apply rear brakes that much either.

how can the rear disk brake pad worn out with just 4100km on the odo ? :|

    • ^^ check for proper free rotation on the rear wheel. if the wheel is grabbing, it could wear out the brake shoes.

      • Done 13k kms. My rear tire has been a major headache for me over the last couple of months. There are punctures in 4 places including 2 very close to each other. Had got patches done on two punctures and over the last 2 days both these patches have come off which meant Ive had to go back to the plug and fix method. The guys at both the tyre shops told me that its time to change the tyre. Will probably change it at 15 k but its time to go tyre hunting starting this weekend.

Can anyone in bangalore tell me which shop they have bought their rear tyre from ?

          • First Service @ bangalore

            To all Bangalore rider,

My first service is nearing. ODO reads 800+kms. Considering the fact that first service is really important, I need to select the right SC. Planning to choose between Panache @ Old Madras Rd and Pacer @ Shivajinagar.

I met with an accident and bike was serviced at Panache by Ashok. Decent response. As mentioned earlier, whenever I called Pacer for any quotes, they always over quoted (For example - Chain Lubing - Rs.180, Yammy Tank Pad - Rs.900 etc.).

Could you guys please recommend/comment on Panache & Pacer as well as name any experienced mechanic who is reliable. needless to mention, I will be present during the servicing.

I feel the vibrating problem near the front set (Visor Area) and sometimes engine feels really harsh between 4-5rpm . Please tell me what needs to checked.

            Thanks in advance.

Take your bike out for a spin and just use the front brakes. 5-7km would be enough I guess. Come back to your place and check if the rear disk is hot.

If it's hot the it means that there is friction between the disk and the pads and if it's not hot then there is some other issue.

But be careful as if the disk is rubbing with the pads it'll be very hot and could burn your fingers so take apt precautions.
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

Just tell them your problem & ask them to tighten everything during the service. Almost all the vibes on my bike disappeared when I got Orion to do that.

                      • My previous problem solved with tweak in idle rpm(As suggested by HydBiker). I set it to 1.2-1.3k. Then I changed to NGK spark plug and split power cable. All went fine for a week till today morning. There was no issue till yesterday night.

Today while starting the bike, the rpm shoot upto 2.5 rpm and settled down at 2 to 1.5k rpm. Then there is another metal scratch sound is coming. Its like if you scratch a silver coin against a hard surface. More throttle the sound is more shrilly and loud. This sound is coming some where around engine; though I am not sure where exactly its coming. Even I am not confident whether I can take the bike to SVC which is 5 km away.

                        Help guys !!

The bike won't stop easily when only the rear brake is used. By design.

Is it a continuous screech or is there a gap in the sound or is the sound picking up pitch and going low like a sine wave? can you record it with your cell phone and post it here?

Mostly nothing so wrong would happen. But then, let us see.

                              • Hey everyone..!!
I had met with an accident a couple of days back..! Nothing serious though..just some scratches on the exhaust and on the right fairing (hardly noticeable) and well..the right rear view mirror is broken..!
Immediately after the accident while i was still on the road and was yet to register what had happened..i noticed the engine malfunction light glowing..and after some time..when i was back on my feet on a safe spot..i turned the ignition off and then switched it back on....the engine malfunction light was not glowing anymore..!

I haven't had the time to run it down the SVC so far..!
So should i be worried and run it down the SVC immediately..?
