          • Is cleaning you chain necessary each time you lube your chain? I am planning to buy a Motul Chain Lube and do it myself.

I only have the stock side stand. How do I lube the chain??

Yeah, its kinda necessary, cleaning the chain just makes it easy for the lube to penetrate deep into the chain links and joints.
You can use kerosene and a brush to clean the chain and lube it with the Motul you've got.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Well, first, only 50 KMs in reserve is less. I have done 65+ KMs in reserve a few times but on a highway. Once in City too. 50 KMs with 1.9 Liter of petrol, that is too bad mileage for an R15 - less than 25 KMPL. May be there was some miscalculation!!!

Next, your idle RPM is very low. Set it to 1300 RPM.
After 50 km, I preferred to refill since I was in city . So some oil was still there. It was not to intend to dry my tank anyway.
Usually I get 36-40; some whr in between. Ya, I need to rectify rpm.
From last 2 days, no problem in starting.(Touch wood)

I am going for NGK irridum spark plug and split cable. Anybody want to suggest a good workshop in Bangalore?
                I do blog.

                • To all bangy guys,
Since rainy season approaching and lubing chain is an essential job for bikes..Can u guys recommend where to go for chain lubing in case of emergency(also read as laziness)..Am sure local mechs will charge less. I called Pacer Yamaha. They quoted Rs.180 for cleaning and lubing the chain..is that true?

Easiest thing to do is put it in nuetral, get a friend to lean the bike on the side stand while you lube it youself. Alternatively get a temporary central stand (cheap) / fix a central stand (around 500~ bucks) / get a paddock stand (Rs 1500 + IIANM). These 3 options have been covered in great detail in this thread. You can also get a Motul Chain Cleaner , its around 450 bucks.

Topped up the tank today. Mileage is down to 30 with spirited daily riding ! Used to get 38+ with the same riding style on the same roads earlier. Not happy .....
