Yes Tijo, that very much could be the reason. Also it might depend upon the relation dealer is having with the Yamaha logistics/deliver allocation people..

      2) Is there any specific cloth or Polish or Washing liquid that i should be using for the Baby R1?

      3) I would like to change the Headlights to a devil eye one, does that tamper the warranty?

dude try the 3m polishin cloth its pretty soft and does a good job its yellow in color, and use 3m body shampoo. And abt the devil`s eyes am tryin to make one its not that hard just waiting for a couple of parts, in jc road a pair will cost u 800 bucks it`ll be like an led circular strip u can just paste it on the reflectors around the bulb. i dont think it tampers the warranty

      • watch out where you park the bike what kind of neighborhood one of my friends r15 always loses the yamaha logo or the tank pad every service he gets new one, most annoying of all they scratch the bike purposely on the tank or try to take pic without stand sitting on it and drop it have gone through this plenty of times.

        • As most must be aware, i got the R15's accessories fitted except muffler cover(wasn't available) and seat-cowl(heard it breaks easily)
The city LED's which i had fitted have gone bust and i am pretty angry it was/is Rs.1000 a pair and there is no warranty
but strangely after i have fitted the OE parking lamps, i feel they illuminate just as good

Is that a soft compound tyre? If it is harder, it might affect the handling though we would not be able to make out much in city use. Are MRFs completely out of stock still?

I wasn't aware of this buddy. You should have asked me before buying the LEDs-I have burnt my fingers the same way long back! After a few attempts, I managed to get a replacement pair, but that also started flickering&went out within a month or so.
Later I got the local LEDs <=Rs.100 fitted&they are working like a charm since more than a year now.
I analyzed the Yam accessory LEDs to find out why they really flicker-PM me if you wanna know about my small finding.
Yeah the seat cowl plastic is flimsy-I used to have it on my bike all the time, but removed it after I got engaged then married. Later when I looked at it, it had 2 hairline cracks in the front part!
The billet aluminium accessories are good quality but the golden ones lose color on exposure to sunlight.

            • Hello

              Hello Everyone,

I got my R15 - Sunset Red color on 31st March from Panache Motors,BLR. It s my first bike and like almost everyone, I had the dream to own a bike of desire as a child. It s indeed a dream come true :-). I booked on 10th March. The dealer informed from 1st of April the bike will cost 3k extra due to hike in road tax.

Picked up a Cross helmet from JC Road. I'm loving it.

I want to convey my regards to every individual member of this forum. Being a complete newbie, this thread helped me a lot to understand and gain knowledge about the mean machine. I feel confident while riding just because I read thoroughly every post here, and of course the manual.

I am following the run-in procedure religiously. Every ride feels awesome.

              I had two queries -
              1. While downshifting suddenly in a red signal, when am shifting from 5th or 4th gear to neutral, I successfully manage to come in neutral following the correct procedure (Clutch in, one gear down at a time etc.). Then I turn the engine off using engine kill switch. When starting again, sometimes the bike refuses to go in first gear. I have to manually move the bike little forward and backward and then shift to first gear. Is this a problem with the bike or I am doing anything wrong?
              2. I was riding my freind's 8K kms. old FZ-S and felt it s much faster/smoother in lower gears than R15. He told me during run-in the bike will remain like this and after first service/later, R15 will be faster/smoother. Is this true?

              Thanks everyone again. Cheers!

How do you folks keep it clean everyday? It has so many nooks and crannies (mainly in the front where you can see it while you ride) that accumulate dust like a magnet attracts iron. A complete water wash everyday is neither practical nor advisable since that would require post-wash lubrication. I've tried wiping it with a cleaning cloth, but it's still difficult to make it dust free in all the corners. Is the only solution wiping it with a wet cloth (and hoping the dust clings on to it from the corners? Or is there a better "solution" (pun intended)?

Installing Devil's eye needs the Head Light assy. to split and join.. Any modification to the stock H/L's voids the warranty. I have seen enough of crazy R15's H/L smoked by Devil's eye. Its not reliable. I suggest not to go such fancy lights.

Yours might be the after market R6 angel lights. Most of the local made angel lights wont work properly. I saw some used many LED connected in series to make a ring light. But it wouldn't last more than a month.

Do check the below thread for the Angel lights.

When exactly did these changes come out to the general public? Is this something effective April 1st, 2010? Even in Feb/March 2010, the Yamaha website had the first picture for blue (the one here with the vehicle alone) and now it seems to have the second one (the one here with the group of people). Even the delivery of blue vehicles have been the first one in the last month or so.

Im not sure...but I think I saw some of the new blue R15s back in Jan 2010. So I assume they might be available in late 2009. I dont have any solid proof for this...just something I think I remember
