There's nothing major to be carried out at 10k as the periodic replacement interval for most of the parts is 12k. But its a different story for me coz I prefer getting them replaced at 10K interval. The following things should be carried out: (If you come under my category of people)
      1. Air Filter replacement
      2. Oil filter replacement
      3. Sparkplug replacement (Although its mentioned to be replaced @12k kms it can last much longer. In case you are not replacing it ask the mechanic to clean it and check the color of the firing side of the plug . It should be light brown in color)
      4. Swingarm lubing
      5. Check coolant level

P.S: Every thing is there in the periodic maintenance chart in the owner's manual. Please go through it before servicing.

I'd say at 10k its too early for that. They can last till 20k even under rigorous use so I'd say change it around 14-15k...

            • Hey Guys,

Is K&N RC-1060 model filter very much suitable for R15. Kindly suggest changing the stock filter to K&N, is it worth ? I just completed 2K Km.

A bike is only as bad as it's worst rider.

AFAIK there's no fuel filter. It has a fuel pump mounted inside the tank.

I would say K&N would not be a great choice. Get in touch with joel, he offers stock replacement air filter. (better than K&N)

                    • 2 Yrs of pleasure riding. 18k of pure bliss. A very well relation ship with brand Yamaha.

All this went for a toss before 3 days. It was 1st trip with my wife. I was in a group of 4 bikes and a car. After 174 Km from Bangalore, the bike just stopped. Now this problem was not new. I had same issue before. Though worst exp. before was it started after 30 - 40 mins. To rectify the issue, I serviced the bike 3 days earlier in Orion motors. I specifically told them to take time, but solve the issue. Even I told that I am suspecting oil may not be flowing or its getting blocked. Please check on this.

Now on the fatal day, bike was running. Selam was 30 Km away and group got ready for create a formation as city is near by. I dropped speed to 90 Km/h to 30 Km/h. Again when all started on throttle, I just lost power !!! It just did not hold power. Since bike was moving, I tried to switch to 2nd gear and roll again. However, it did not help. Luckily we had a back up car. All the bikes went to city. Along with my friend in car, I checked fuse, spark plug, radiator. All is fine. No issue with warning lights. Horn, indicator all OK. We tried to do a push start. No buzz at all. A 3 day old serviced bike, with new SS engine oil; its just frustrating. Since its Sunday, show rooms were close. Finally after 2 Hr of wait, I need to take the bike in Utility vehicle to Salem. Parked the bike in a known petrol bunk as I need to go a resort in yercaud. Next day when I came back bike started with 1st instance. I found a mechanic; he was clueless and said everything looks ok; u can start and go. After 2 Hrs, I started for bangalore. But again same story. After 2 Km ride, it stopped again. More frustration, more agony. The heat and dust was not helping either. Found a garage and 2 of best enthusiastic mechanics I ever seen. They immidiately checked all issue; finally the main culprit came into picture. The oil was not coming out of tank.Using a foot pump, he cleared it. However, that again need to be done with jet pressure(petrol bunk pressure). Now all looks ok. NO, wait. The battery is behaving weired now. During all process, it went for a toss. Again, replaced with new exide. Ok, all fine now. NOP. Auto start is not working.
I lost patience here. Just my close pals around there; some how I handled myself. My wife was in the car waiting some 40-50 Km ahead. Anyway, pushed start worked. I zoomed off to Bangalore. After 100 Km, after a break; the self start worked. Finally I reached home safely.
It just devastating to take your prized possesion in a utility vehicle. Is this reliability of brand yamaha? When customer is saying, I suspect an issue; why its taken lightly? Also I hv told that, I will be on a trip. Please take your time and check thoroughly. When Yamaha trying to promote leisure and sports biking, reliability should not be an issue. However these incidents wont help at all.

I dont want to criticise any one. I want to send a constructive feedback to Yamaha. Can you guys tell me should I contact Orion 1st or Yamaha directly?
                      I do blog.

I guess he means fuel not flowing.
It seems to be a case of clogged injectors. This is why I use premium fuel.

@samarr: Sorry to hear about the incident. Do not give up hope.
They should have put in some service checklist point about injector cleaning. Get it done once and then see.
I feel everyone should get this done at the 20K mark.
Raise the issue to Yamaha however, mentioning the negligence at Orion inspite of you specifying the problem.
The other one seems to be a starter motor/relay related issue. Common in my friend's CBZ Xtreme too.
Don't hate the bike-service is not upto the mark, the machine is still good.

Yes buddy. Below oil tank, there is white nossle. Not a single drop oil was coming. While it was parked in Selam through out the night, some how it got accumulated few drops. So it started at morning. Once those drops dried, same issue came back.

Oh..! I just imagined some mishap in the petrol pump or so where they injected oil in the tank or so.

@ Samaar. go by what Sarvajith says, if you don't consider premium fules, then the next best bet would be this, IFTEX CLEAN SYSTEM G You can source this almost in any reputed petrol pumps which will clean up ur clogged injectors and also can be used as a preventive maintenance once in a month or so. Btw. don't hate the machine just for this. She's not well, show some love & there she'll spring upto life again.

Oil tank? Will you pls. show in pics where was the problem highlighted or rather sorted for now? As far as my knowledge goes, there is no oil tank in the R15 mate.
