    Fuel tank.

It seems to be a case of clogged injectors. This is why I use premium fuel.

@samarr: Sorry to hear about the incident. Do not give up hope.
They should have put in some service checklist point about injector cleaning. Get it done once and then see.
I feel everyone should get this done at the 20K mark.
    Raise the issue however.
The other one seems to be a starter motor/relay related issue. Common in my friend's CBZ Xtreme too.
Don't hate the bike-service is not upto the mark, the machine is still good.
I agree with you. Because I hv seen how Yamaha has given so much effort to raise the standard. I dont want to give up just with one issue; though its an annoying one. specially wify's 1st trip in bike. Not sure, I hv to go single once again .

I want to send this feedback to Yamaha. What I doubt is if I send it to Orion, will they ever care? Should I send it to Yamaha directly in stead?

Of course, I will do a full check up as it has been touched by Non-Yamaha technicians.

@ Samaar. go by what Sarvajith says, if you don't consider premium fules, then the next best bet would be this, IFTEX CLEAN SYSTEM G You can source this almost in any reputed petrol pumps which will clean up ur clogged injectors and also can be used as a preventive maintenance once in a month or so. Btw. don't hate the machine just for this. She's not well, show some love & there she'll spring upto life again.
      I bookmarked the link. Thanks!!!
I am very much attached to this bike; so no point of hating it. This is the 1st time, it showed an issue; may be thats the reason.

        • Reg: Chain being loose

Guys at what Kms have u changed your bike chain. Mine has clocked around 16600Kms. the chain seems to be very loose. when i asked the SVC guys to tighten it. they have advised me to change the chain.
Is it too early to do that?
Do i need to change the sprocket along with it?

Chain life depends on usage and maintenance. If you ride at high speeds and accelerate hard, your chain will be screwed faster. If you ride slower, chain life would increase.

If you lube your chain regularly, chain life will be longer. Not lubing means low chain life.

At what point is the chain adjustment plate on? It goes from 1-7. When it reaches 7 then you have to replace the chain.

Mine is still at adjustment level 3 after about 14000 kms. I think it might be good till 25000km at least with my kinda riding and maintenance.

            • my first set lasted for I guess 23000kms of hard riding with regular lubing. IIRC Santaas r15 required the chain change only by 34000kms!

              • fuel indicator

Hi all , i got my R15 on july 14th 2011 and i face this problem of fuel indicator indicating reserve tank even after filling fuel . i use the reserve indicator as a benchmark to check the mileage of the bike but this problem has made it not possible.
can anyone tell me what the reserve tank capacity is and what is the most effective way to check my mileage.

also i have jus completed my 1st service and is it okay to take the bike to 8 rpm or so ?

Fuel indicator shows the correct measure within next 5 km ride. The blinking F sign does not disappear immediately.

Change the full set. Chain and sprockets the bike will become like new .

i changed my chain 4 times. all due to hard off roading . i always got rusted in rains even after lubing .

BTW santa lubes his R15s chain daily :P

The owner manual is such a handy tool...
AFAIK the reserve capacity is 1.4L (or was that 1.8L)

The reserve indicator is not a prudent way to measure mileage. The next time you see reserve, park the bike on side stand and start it again and it will show you two bars (Turn the keys while the bike is still on side stand)

The best way to calculate mileage is brim to brim method.

Always ensure the Bike has more than 4Litres of fuel when you intend to do a cold start

                        Which i dont have

Does anyone have a link to the owner's manual?

And how much does the Fairing stay cost's? My faring is slightly mis-aligned!

Been 18 days since i got the R15 in hand an i could do only 50kms. So went on a short long ride on tuesday. Initially the bike struggled to go past 125kmph no matter what i tried. Thought it should be the tappets or may be the engine is yet to open up. It was comfortable only at 110kmph anything above that, the engine seemed to be struggling.

But while returning, all of a sudden it seemed to have woken up from its sleep (had parked the bike right a the entrance of a wine shop). It was easliy crusing at 120's and hitting 130 easily. A figo guy almost sideswped me at 125kmph. Got pissed off and chased him and the bike hit 140kmph and went on to overtake him at 144kmph and surprisingly it stayed at 144 for quiet a longtime, maybe 2-3kms and it came back to 139kmph and stayed there for like 1-2mins.

I was surprised, just 50kms back, it was struggling and now it was performing good! Still wonder what could be the reason. Its was a 200kms trip(hyd-Jedcharla-Hyd) and avg was around 39kmpl. Radiator leakage worsened though.

Sort of got used to the riding position now. But it still hurts a bit in traffic.

                        • thanks. I am new to biking and this is my first bike so i guess i need quite a lot of advice.

can i take it to 8 rpm or so ? Also can anyone tell me where i can order short brake/clutch levers and a tank pad ?

Is it worth changing the stock clutch /brake lever ?

Stick to the running procedure for now

Worth depends on what you intend to do with it. Its a boon in traffic and for stunting, for everything else the stock is as good.

Well the bike was serviced(so-called) 20kms before the ride. Chain slack was perfect plus i lubed it in the morning (Wonder how you ppl manage to lube it without a centre stand. had a tuff time). Oil was Yamalube SS 15W50. Will shift to Sprinta or Motul from next service. So everything was fine, Still unable to figure out why this happened. Will check the oil level once again!
