  • @ dileep.anirudh,

I feel you have made a wrong choice, I replaced my R15's Tata Green battery last week after 3 yrs.
I was inclined towards a new Tata-Green or AMCO or EXCIDE, but I reached out to 5-6 main battery outlets in Chennai. All their advice were the same,

DO NOT GO FOR EXCIDE, as it will be active only for 6Months and starts to degrade. I took an Amaron Probiker 5Amps, has a lifetime somewhat closer to stock R15's battery. 24mnts replacement and 24 months general warranty. My friend has the same battery for over 2 yrs and lately I checked my 4 yr old Apache 150 it has the same Amaron pro biker 9Amps running sold for over 4 yrs.

You just have to pull out the black sponge below the Stock battery and the Amaron 5Amps is a spot on fix, I was even able to fit the battery retainer strap.

So R15 Guys just close your eyes and go for Amaron probiker 5Amps.

Stock battery at Yamaha costs 2.5K+, but same half-sized 3Amps, Sealed battery at Tata Battery showroom costs only 1400RS. There is a world of diff between the stock battery at Yamaha and the other ones.

My friend is using an exide battery in his r15 for the past 3 years without any problem. Me too using exide on my p220 for the past couple of years and still runs good... Everyone tells Amaron is the best , but I think exide is not that bad...

      • Hello Friends,

My R15 completed 22K+ and within 3 months I am expecting tyre change (since front and rear tyres threads almost near to finish)

So I have found below good tyres for my R15

        Pirelli Tyre
        Front - 90/80 - 17 M/C 46S TL or 90/80 - 17 M/C 46P TL
        Rear - 100/80 - 17 M/C 52P TL

        Michelin Tyre
        Front- Michelin Pilot Sporty 90/80 -17 46S
        Rear - Michelin Pilot Sporty 110/80 -17 57S

        or

I can still go for MRF ? Please suggest

Also where can I find above pirelli or michelin tyre in Pune?

        • @ Ivin

I dont have personal experience with Excide, but every outlet, out here are against Excide batteries, particularly the sealed ones (Which are Half Sized).

They say these batteries reach their showroom very frequently within 6 months for a replacement. If it was one guy then I couldn't have taken his word.

But its was a whole cluster of outlets I checked throughout the length and breath of the city.

Another point to add, the outlet guy took my old Tata green for 100rs.

          • Guys .. i got my Radiator replaced by yamaha as it was damaged since i got the bike.

Now everyone knows that there is a noise that we get when we start the bike .. the ignition noise ..which is like a silent whistle .. but now its like a loud noise that i get and it stays on for some time even if i stop the engine ..

is it the ignition noise or something else ?

lately my visor has also started to vibrate.. i guess the svc guys shall tighten it for free .. right ?

my speedometer has also stopped because of rain water .. the Rpm meter stays on 2500 and does not go to 0 .. guess need to wait untill it dries..

            • rpm speed gear relation

              Hi

I recently got my r15 ...and like any other owner of this bike m on cloud 9
I have also started reading articles related to it...
but I m confused about : at what rpm and speed which gear should be used?

It has been more than a week I boughy r15 intially i didnt care about rpm and gear .. but when i read some articles
              they say
we should not use high gears at low speeds as this will impact engine...
(till now i was riding at 5th /6th gear at rpm below 5000(as it is mentioned in booklet not to go above
5000 rpm till its 1000km) at speed of around 45-55
              )
so from past 2 days m riding it in 3rd gear ,(as i normally drive between 45-54)
So i keep on driving in 3rd(occasionaly 4th gear ) gear at around 5500 rpm with speed 45-54... m doing right??

but i feel like i m bike is pushed and there are more vibrations(May be I m used to activa thats y i feel so)
              at 3rd gear with 45-54 (rpm below 6k) speed,when i shift to 4th gear after 50((rpm below 5k) ,i feel
              like bike is relaxed now...

kindly help me in understanding this and ofcourse there are
things like everyone has his way of driving and there can be plus minus in speeds... but still
there must be some basic rules ....

P.S : I know my question is repeatitive but like any other person am also excited about my bike

Could you please elaborate on this? Do you mean to say that if we buy a 3.5aH sealed Tata Green battery from a Tata Green outlet it will not be of good quality but if we buy the same thing in Yamaha showroom by paying more it will be good? How can that be bro?

                        Need your help !!

I have read a couple of topics here on slime sealant for Tire. Today I found the same in Reliance Autozone shop near to my home. Was thinking to go for it. is that worthy ?? It has all varieties like for Tubes, Tubeless. I didn't asked for the price yet for my R15.Please let me know the pros and cons

BTW my Tigress is one month old and ODO 1800 km. Awaiting for your replies...

Me too had the question with the battery Outlet guy and he simply said Yamaha is cheating us.

I tried comparing both Stock and outlet Tata green 3.5 (sealed) and both looked alike. only difference is Stock one said "Made in Indonesia" on the battery itself and the box package of Outlet's Tata battery displayed "Made in India"

May be the Yamaha Battery is of a better quality as they charge more than double than the current ones sold outside.

but again, 3.5Amps on an R15 is like a Joke. I was having trouble connecting even an additional Stock horn. So its better to move to 5 Amps and you there is enough space available for a normal 5amps battery in the chamber.

VIP SEAL may work. costs around 800 or you can get it in your tyres at authorised Maruti dealerships at lesser price.
I'm gonna change my rear tyres and I want slightly harder ones;reason : a wood splinter went in the tyre making such a hole that you can look through it and I want the brand to be MRF only, but there is no such thing as 100/80 -17" in MRF besides the stock one that they have for the R15 and the closest options are 100/90 -17" and 110/80 -17". which one to opt for? besides that is there any other brand making the R15 profiled rear ones other than TVS . My budget is 2500.

Could be possible, but no one will want to pay more than double if it is available locally!
Even if it lasts half the duration, still works out to be the same.
Let's see-as of now my battery is still stock, 37 months done.
