Hi man, my bike's rear tyre was badly in need of a replacement too. Was filling air everyday and riding to office! I checked for tyres and found that the stock tyre is being sold at Rs. 2700/- (bloody rip-off!). And the only other option I found with my budget was the Ceat Vertigo tubeless, although it's a 100/90 - 17. After checking in loads of shops, I decided to install this tyre.Originally posted by abhi_underdog View PostHi All,
Is anyone using any of these two ?
Rear:
1. Michelin Pilot Sporty: 100/80x17" Michelin PILOT_SPORTY - SPORT MILEAGE Front Tyre 100/80-17 M
2. Pirelli MT75: 100/80x17" MT 75 , Motorcycle Tyres - PIRELLI
Price Rs.2300.
I just wanna know, how do these behave on a road patched with sand and gravel, the stock ones are scary even on the smallest patch of gravel and rear tyres is due for a change so i am considering new options. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Frankly, it looks a lil funny on the R15 as it has a button type tread!
First impressions are that the ride comfort has gone up since the thicker rubber seems to be absorbing a lot of road irregularities. Also, since the diameter is a lil bigger, the bike does more speed at the same rpm. (About 64kmph at 4000rpm in 6th gear). I've attached pics for your reference.
A good rider has balance, judgment, and good timing. So does a good lover!

Agreed that sticking the anti-slip pad directly on the tank will ruin the paint. I think wasting Rs.1400 (700x2) is not that good an idea. A better idea would be to get the sides of the tank stickered with some normal vinyls, then paste the anti-slip pad over it.Originally posted by jairaman12 View PostOk Bro...
This is what I think can be done..
Take a tank pad, preferably the yamaha one,if its available (because of its larger size),Source the anti-slip pad from a car garage.
Paste the same over the tank pad.Cut the tank pad into 2 equal halves and stick it on both sides of the tank.
The main reason why I think of using the tank pad is that it can be removed from the tank without hampering the paint of the tank, rather than pasting the anti-slip pad directly on the tank using some adhesives.
Please pour in some opinion depending on what you think about this.
What do you think of this? Only 100-200 extra expense other than the anti-slip pads.
Why waste money if the panel is not cracked-get it painted at a local painter for a couple of hundreds. Non metallic yellow should not be a tough shade to match if the painter is good enough. I am saying this with confidence since I have got my metallic brown Verna touched up many times at a local roadside painter-the finish was equal to showroom booth!Originally posted by k.bharath_27 View PostHad an unfortunate incident on NH13 yesterday. Luckily i got away with 2 minor abrasions but my bike got it pretty bad near the right headlight (see pic below).
What can i do about this? Is it a replaceable panel or should i get it painted? And how much approx. will it cost?
Congrats Satti. R15 suits you!Originally posted by onlinesatish View PostGuys,

Was never happy with your 220 decision in the first place.
The main problem with the stock tyre which makes it skid on gravel is the absence of grooves in the centre.Originally posted by abhi_underdog View PostHi All,

Between the two, Michelin might be stickier rubber, but I would go with Pirelli MT75 considering the central grooves. Akshay (neoakshay), Nikhil (tibby) and I have checked out an R15 with this tyre on&it was looking really neat!Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Correct me if i am wrong the vertigo is a offroad usage tyre right?Originally posted by neoakshay View PostHi man, my bike's rear tyre was badly in need of a replacement too. Was quoted 1830 in Mangalore. How much did you pay? Did you enquire if Vertigo Rage is available in Bangalore?Originally posted by neoakshay View PostHi man, my bike's rear tyre was badly in need of a replacement too. Off road tyres on a track-bike, for city/highway use!! How does it grip on tarmac (especially in high-speed cornering)?Originally posted by neoakshay View PostCeat Vertigo tubeless, although it's a 100/90 - 17. After checking in loads of shops, I decided to install this tyre.

My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240
The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

If water is getting inside your headlights, you need to check the rubber around the bulb holders (main light and side light) are fitted correctly and not split, if any are split change them, they cost less than 30 bucks a piece, I had a similar problem with one light, found the rubber split, order the replacement and to my surprise they actually got me the part.Originally posted by onlinesatish View PostThx guys!

And does the chain cover keep vibrating a lot?Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

Chain cover is not supposed to vibrate. Get the bolts tightened.Originally posted by onlinesatish View PostThx guys!

Hope the speedo issue is fixed on Harsha's bike under warranty-I remember his bike showing 199kmph on our Pocharam rides!

As for the headlights, the below reply is correct. I don't bother about it much. I have even seen moisture droplets in the speedo after riding in very heavy rains. Everything dries by the next morning.
In my case the covers turned yellowOriginally posted by stefanm View PostIf water is getting inside your headlights, you need to check the rubber around the bulb holders (main light and side light) are fitted correctly and not split, if any are split change them, they cost less than 30 bucks a piece, I had a similar problem with one light, found the rubber split, order the replacement and to my surprise they actually got me the part.
donno why. But you are right about the gap allowing the moisture in. I'll try to change it if in stock at the next service.
If there is no extra noise at idle, like loose marbles, then that means the tappets are fine.Originally posted by hellbreaker46 View PostHow to know that the tappets are fine, or that they need some adjustments?
My bike is 20000kms old and I've never got that adjustment done.
The manual recommends adjustment at every 6K kms. but I have seen many who don't revv it up much not requiring adjustment for long. In my case I got them tightened at 4K kms., since from 2-4K kms. I was only redlining the bike&also testing out top speeds!
Do get the clearance checked once with a feeler gauge-values are 0.1&0.2 for inlet&exhaust respectively. Ask the mech. not to overtighten as this will cause sluggishness&loss of initial pickup.Quench my thirst with gasoline!
