  • Finally rode my bike after ages.... felt wonderful... and the best feeling was the half self start!!!!

Used WD-40 to spray and clean the chain. I personally felt the results were awesome... and after cleaning the chain used normal chain lube... Chain is back to normal after being stiff for so long!!!!

    10,865kms!!!!

              • @wildest: Check the coolant cap is tightly fixed&that the radiator mounts are tight too-this was there in my case after replacing the radiator.

                • Yup, it can be, the tool-kit provided with the bike is sufficient to assemble and de-assemble the whole bike, except the engine, but please be careful with the electricals and remeber which bolt goes where and which wire is for what

                  • Open chain is a big minus !!!

Guys, I am owning R15 since 2008 (First lot). Have ridden around 40K KMS till now. I love every bit of my ride except the chain noise .....which is spoiling my ride to the core. What ever I do be the motul chain lube after the motul chain clean or even the pressure wash after cleaning with kerosene, the chain noise returns in next one week. Nowdays this matters me a lot and am getting thoughts replacing my love with something that has the closed chain. But the only prob is that I could not find any better replacement for Yammie :-).

I think the open chain is a big prob in our roads atleast here in Chennai......so manufacturers have to think a lot before launching open chain bikes.....I am thinking of how it will be for dazzlers, twisters, etc....I think honda's smoothness will be lost becoz of the chain prob....

                    • @karthik - monsoons are a problem mate. Are you on stock chain/sprocket set?

If yes, replace when monsoons start to wane.

                      • Hey Guys..
Wanted to ask this since quite sometime..

Whenever I brake a little harder on my bike, I tend to slip forward.Even though I grab the tank tightly with my thighs, still I feel that there is a little dragging forward..

So has anybody pasted any strip (don't know what to call it) on the tank where the thighs grab the tank in order to get a small amount of friction between the thighs and the tank to prevent any slippage.

                        • I guess theres a grip know as stomp grip, it has bubbles on it and is pasted where be press our thighs against the tank, it helps in the grip, but don't think its available for the 15, experts and senior members please comment

@Sheelpriye: No bro have replaced once at around 20K KMS. Still one point remains in the chain adjuster. Not only the monsoons, even during the normal summer days, the chain is getting noisy due to the road dust and dirts.

It might be because of the front sprocket area being dirty.
                              Have you checked that??

I was also having the same problem. So opened the front sprocket area and found all kinds of filth, namely:dried mud, twigs and a lots of other things.
Showed it to the SVC ,they cleaned it and the noise was gone.

Yeah the front sprocket can get clogged, especially after cleaning, always worth opening the cover and checking/cleaning there as part of your routine maintenance.
