Yes and no, your paint has a layer on top called clear coat, this is what protects the paint against the elements, modern 2k paints are more durable and can look as new for well over a decade, if looked after properly, you can further improve the protection with built up layers of a good quality automotive wax, not the cheap local brands they are cheap for a reason, good wax and a weekly wash, done properly will keep your ride in A1 condition, regardless of rain or shine.

        • Hello Friends,

I am using my cramster tank bag for my daily commute to office or touring and all, Suddenly i saw yesterday the paint below the bag has scratched and become dull. Had done teflon coating 1 month ago but still it happened and today morning tried using amway silicon glaze but still the shine is not there. Is there any other way out to bring the shine back or has anyone else faced the same issues?

The dullness of the paint will be lots of micro scratches, to remove them you could try a rubbing compound, these are micro abrasives so use with caution (maybe practice on your neighbours car, on an inconspicuous spot) this will remove some microns of the clearcoat, if the scratches are deep, then there is nothing much you can do, except get the tank painted, as far as I know Yamaha don't give a paint code, so then the other option is to replace the tank, i think that costs around 1800 bucks.
There is no such thing as teflon coating for automotive use, however you will find it on frying pans, plumbers tape (PTFE tape, affectionatly called 'Teflon tape') even yamalube chain spray has it under it's generic name PTFE.

On a serious note, be very VERY careful when drag racing! Choose a deserted, well-surfaced road, and avoid night drags. Also, at least wear a good Helmet, jacket and jeans. Remember that during a drag race your bike builds up a lot of momentum and you won't be able to stop if something or someone suddenly gets in your way. Ride safe and show those friends the power of the 'R'
It's funny how the Center of Gravity comes into play when you are speeding with a 82kg pillion with you... The max I could do was 109kmph... down shifted to 4th gear @ 10k rpm then to 5th and then to 6th gear at 9k rpm... The speedo read 109kmph only What happened to the 17 horse running beneath...?? :O

                  1) no idea, just order it from your local workshop and wait!

                  2) why? it'll screw up the handling, I had a 120 zapper wyde when i bought mine second hand, the bigger rear tyre tilted the bike forwards, it felt scary, especialy whilst braking. The agility will also be reduced, therefore fun reduced, if you must go with the bigger tyre a 120 is about as big as you can go, this will give you around 2mm clearance of the swing arm and go with a lower profile, such as a 70, this should reduce the tilting effect, your bike your choice, the stock set up is very good.

                  3) I've got bixenons on mine and no probs, the angel eyes will consume extra juice.

Hi Pranit, congratulations, so you finally took the dive . Is the temp idiot light coming on? If not, then don't worry, just as a precaution check that there is proper level of coolant in the coolant reservoir... ride safe, live strong

Ya i also felt that the bike was overheating for my first 300-400 kms but after 1st service its changed for good. So no worries there.
P.S.- Since your bike is new many of your friends would like to try their hand on it but please refrain from tossing away your keys. My bike is a month old and i've been gifted a hanging indicator and headlight scratches from my "dear" friends.

                              • Headlights problem

Had a very near escape today.
Was riding the bike at around 50-60 at night on a road with no street light.
Suddently realized a cow in front, and managed to turn the bike by God's grace. The bike just touched the cow.
It was as if the cow came out of nowhere.
Is it common problem that the headlight of R-15 is very weak. Do you guys face the same problem. If yes, then please suggest some good headlights so that i can drive safely at night.
Also can i use HID or Xenon (dont know much about them) in bikes??
