Seen them before? Since I did not have anything to tighten them with, I replaced them with regular Allen bolts!

BTW, anyone knows what they are called?
Yes, that is a Torx type TR screw used for security... but I didn't know this was used in the ignition switch...

Water in fuel (most probably)... did you by any chance fill fuel during the trip or before the trip... if yes, I suggest that you check the fuel drain pipe attached to the fuel tank collar at the filler cap... if it is chocked or not routed properly, water will not drain out and get collected in and around the collar... when you open the fuel cap, the collected water goes into the fuel tank before you even notice something is happening...

    • ^^ Yes, I did fill in petrol before the ride, it was raining then, and on the way back we did encounter with the same issue on a P180, we drained the carb, which was mostly filled with water and after that everything was back to normal, but in my case, since its FI and I'm new to the workings of the 15, didn't know what to do, thanks for the help, and in future, if the water seeps in again, what would be the damages and what should I do in such case ?

Depends on the level of contamination in the fuel. If its only a few drops of water and your bike starts, runs after a few misfires and the water passes through the system, there is nothing much to do. If the level of contamination is more, then you will need to drain all the fuel from the fuel tank and replace it with fresh fuel after cleaning the fuel tank... also since you have mentioned that a similar problem was faced by the P180, the water contamination could have been from the fuel bunker itself... so you may need to be careful about where you fill your fuel from...

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

            • If the xBHP cop ever came visiting this particular thread, I am sure the nos. would go down by upto 25% and the discussion would span under 1200-1300 pages.

Make the cop work. Its a royal pain to navigate & hence most who can contribute stay away.

And seriously I'm getting frustrated because I have been waiting a very long time for this new R15 and hell when it will be launched we will have to wait another months after booking to get our bike delivered..
All you friends, kindly this is to bring in notice that this thread is an Ownership Thread of Current Model R15, not any speculation thread, do not distort the quality of the thread by discussing about the model other than the YZF R15 models 20P1, 20P2 & 38B1. Any more discussions/post about any other bike other than Yamaha YZF R15 by any user will be reported.

http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/160...-no-668-a.html - this thread was locked for a reason, when there is any concrete news about the new model this thread would be reopened or a separate thread would be started and hence you can continue your discussion over there. Thanks

Yea, i remember once i lost the bike keys and the local mechanic had come to open the lock assembly, he found it pretty hard to do it, he carved a pretty deep niche then used that to turn the screw. Even he was perplexed as to what this is. But even then it took him just 10 minutes extra to figure it out, so yes it will not deter but delay the theft

                    • Hi fellow xbhpians and Yamaha r15 riders, I am a newbie on this forum (registered long time back but was inactive). I am in Chennai and have booked Blue R15 yesterday. I know there are speculations about a new R15 model being launched in near future but i personally liked the current model more, moreso as i didnt want a split seat as it will be inconvenient for my better half.
I would be taking the delivery on Wednesday most probably. Hopefully will join you on rides once i run-in the engine.
