Absolutely, the crank can take a lot of abuse but the symptoms what free2rock_50 has mentioned leads to only one assumption.

@abhimanyu31, it can also be a one off case of in which this problem occurred. If the bike is under warranty, user can go ahead and get it fixed from Yamaha.

Parth, I posted something similar a few pages. I noticed my alloy was bent while changing new tire, as the new tire was leaking air.
I put in a tube for temp use. Claimed Insurance, the insurance "smart" guy asked me, why didn't I click a Photo when it happened. I had so many sentiments on that statement, but I just smiled . Anyways, I got a new Rear Alloy today. It Cost Rs 2780.
Will put it tomorrow. I suggest you get it replaced asap for safety and piece of mind. Firstly, check if you're "actually" leaking air. Then, proceed accordingly.

There isn't any leak, had it verified by a local puncture guy. Also there wasn't a loss of even 1 psi for the 8-10hours the bike was standingstill in the garage since this morning.

The alloy is just 2780? I called my svc and they quoted in excess of 3k . Since I get 85% coverage on metal parts, I'd loose about 400 bucks if I get it replaced. Damn! why didn't I wake up 10 minutes earlier

When you say get it replaced for safety, I'd like to ask, how is a slightly bent rim unsafe?
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

              • Guys, I'm fed up of the stock tyre, I've been having a lot of punctures lately.. I had 5 punctures a week back and had another one yesterday.. Could you guys recommend a tyre for my r15 which performs like the stock tyre but I dont need anymore punctures and also no drop in mileage and handling.. I tried to search a couple of pages back but the effort was in vain, Please help guys
Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

Well, if there wasn't any leak that's good. maybe it's a slight one. But you can wait for 3-4 days and see what are the results! Just to be sure?
I got it for Rs 2780. Packed 8/1/2011. So maybe the newer stock has a hike? or the older one was a tad expensive.

Replaced for safety, I meant what if you are touring and the bent gets aggravated(hitting another pothole) and you start losing air. I meant with reference to such situations. And plus, it's for your peace of mind. Yeah 85%, if your bike is more than one year old. Else, 100%. Firstly see, if you're able to claim insurance, and you're not having smart guys like I had!
                    Keep it posted. Good Luck!

There is ContiGO from Continental tires. I have no experience or source on the reliability or anything. Have seen it on a couple of bikes. It's a direct fit. I don't see why you won't have puntures on this one though!

Woah, I told my svc manager that my bike is less than 1 year old, and then he told me that I'd get 85% on metal parts.

If I can get 100% claim then a replacement it is. Will update on this thread.

                      Thanks a ton brother.

I guess it depends on the Policy then? But 100% on Metal for first year, is how it should be. Anyways, check with your Insurance company. Or have a look at the "How to claim insurance thread" on the forum.

Stock tyres have done 8k Kms. Punctures have started to occur now.

Nowhere I have listened or none has told me to "grab the tank with thighs in order to reduce efforts on wrist..."

The only way to comfortably ride this machine is to get a good body posture. It means you should not weigh on your wrist while riding it, instead put the weight on your lower back a bit. Keep your elbows slightly bend and let the weight come on your shoulders more than your wrist.

Yes in heavy traffic it becomes uncomfortable riding this machine, but once used to it there will be no problem. Ride Safe
Thanx a lot brother 4 the suggestion....really helpful....
but still, I need to know 1 thing.....Pls correct me if I'm wrong.....If we dont grab the tank wid our thighs, then while brakin ...all the body pressure will be exerted on the handlebars.....This pressure can be reduced on the handlebars if we grab the tank....which will also help in maneuvering the bike easily as there is less pressure on the handle....

pls shed some light on this...

this shouldnt happen Rishab (unless you have a habit of heavy braking the rear tyre as well), my stock tyres last 19k km, got it changed now, IMO go for stock one at Globe Tyres in Karol Bagh, it is costing 1550rs for rear one. No other tyre can replace the confidence which stock tyres in this machin gives.

I answered your question for normal riding posture. As it is if you are riding sanely then you wont be braking so hard in traffic. In case of panic braking all these factors come handy.

as it is while braking the pressure comes on your wrist, which turns the full force on the handlebar, which eventually sticks your front portion of the bike in complete traction on road and control of your movement. just a bit of rear brake helps to keep the bike on ground and not to be lifted from rear side. And in all this your shoulder are still free which helps you maneuver the bike. Just while braking dont make your body too stiff or else flexibility will be affected which is not good when your reflexes need to work in flash.

Try to get used to a comfortable riding posture first, then start checking the braking system. Just practice it few times till you get into its habit. And I am sure you will use it and do it wisely.

                                All the Best
