    • Guys anyone tried Burnout on their R15. I tried the burnout first time on r15 on my bike and saw the way the tyre got burnt...

LOl it was so disheatening...guys i wanted to know whether the tyre gets spoiled by doing burnouts?

Even if they get spolied then when can we find spare R15 tyre ?

Since, you "saw" the tire getting "burnt", I guess you know if the tire gets spoiled or not. Do it a couple of times more and let us know!

          RELEASE DATE OF 2011 - R15

          Dear Sir,

          This is Koteeswaran, from Chennai
I work for Hyundai Motors India , car manufacturing facility @ sriperumpudur
I am very much interested in buying a Yamaha R15 and I came to know from some of my friends
And from AUTOCAR & OVERDRIVE magazines ( JAN 11 edition ) that a new version of R15 is going to be launched
So I’m waiting eagerly for that from January this year.
The showroom persons are also saying that it’s going to be launched soon.

Please tell me the exact date of its launch and from when can I book the bike , because I’m waiting for it for the past three months.
I request you kindly to give me an authenticated information on this so that I can make a decision with that mail.

          Thanks
          kotty

Thanks a lot kotty that you helped me out. I also got same response from back office but I think jd666 is right as quoted below..

Why?? why would a company disclose its plans for launching the newer model?? say if the new bike is coming in may, then why would it kill its current sales for march and april?? Simple business strategy. They will simply plonk it on the market once the existing stock is exhausted and deliveries have been made.

All in all its a fruitless exercise. Either wait, or buy the current one.
Thanks jd666. I was also wondering the same that Yamaha is clearing its current R15 stock and then only it will launch new one.
I will wait for 1 or 2 months (my limit) if there is an official news then its OK otherwise I will go for existing one..

At the time of delivery check the bike thoroughly for scratches etc. during delivery my front alloy had white paint splashed all over it (must be from some nearby construction site) i insisted those guys to change the front wheel itsef, which they did....so just an overall exterior check will do, take a small test ride before signing the delivery note... ask the dealer for some free accessories....

Rightly said! i bought the current edition in a hurry thinking that the new edition would be launched soon. I like it and feel its much better in terms of economy compared to the much awaited 2011 edition...
            thank you

its a soft compound tyre. so its gonna literally get ripped to sheds when you do a burnout on it.. Though the smoke produced is gonna be awesome..

And yes, the tyre does get spoilt by burnouts, because you create a flat zone on the tyre, when it should be curved, and the amount of rubber lost in a burnout will last many kms on the road..

Burnouts result in frequent punctures too. My rear takes a lot of abuse > Burnouts , Rolling Burnouts , Skating etc etc. Its done 6000 kms till date and i have faced two puntures one a wee ago and another two days ago.!!
Fun begins only after 6K rpm.....!

                  • use wax based polish on the painted glossy parts. For the matte finish parts ( deltabox piece, meter console plastic ), use a silicon based polish that will protect and enhance the shine. wax based polish tends to make it grey, and done not produce any shine.

                      • I use a liquid polish provided by Maruti...It is very good for metal parts...

I saw a bike with the main stand from Yamaha...I think it is worth spending on it because it gives a good support to the bike and also is very helpful in cleaning or puncture repair works....

Even i was thinkin of buying a stand.. pref the racing stand. but the yamaha ppl claim that normal center stand is being sold more than racing stand. i havent seen a R15 with center stand though so im not sure how its going to go with the bike.. act its very obvi that i definitely would look stupid.. a racing bike with a stupid center stand!

i need the stand only to lube the chain and clean the tyre. for couple of weeks ive been using the jack of my Alto car.. the idea dint work out well because it looks like the spring of the side stand took the load pretty hard.. its now become a little loose!
