-> this bike does handle very well, thanks to the aerodynamics, engine, tyres and above all Delta Frame Chasis.

-> back Pain does happen initially as long as you dont get the right riding posture , once you get your riding posture there is no back pain. Wrist pain may be there in heavy traffic or long riding hours.

->maintenance is nothing, just get the service on time, do the run-in properly and after that it only requires timely servicing. About lubing for first 3k kms on your ODO, the chain needs to be lubed every 500kms, after that you can get your chain lubed after every 800 to 1000km.

-> when buying the bike, just make sure that you check all the lubricants to be filled to the level, which includes - Engine Oil, Brake Oil, Coolant. Once the coolant is filled, you dont have to worry about changing it, just keep a check on the coolant level under the tank and if you feel its going down, while getting it service tell them to top up. For 2 yrs/20K kms coolant need not to be flushed, just top up will do the work. After 2yrs/20K kms the coolant need to be flushed from the radiator and then filled up again.

And yes if you want to do it on your own, you can do it, but for that you will have to buy proper tools for it brother.

this is in the VENKATESHA YAMAHA SERVICE CENTRE in hyderabad...

my doubt is whether to go for the change...if yes, why is yamaha going for such a costly make over on the bike for free?????? im in a dilemma...my panels look in good condition but my mind says me to go for them...want a reply ASAP...

and also the mechanic has told me to inform me about this to my fellow R15 riders...i ll be happy if anyone will be benifitted from this...go for it if u need it and if ur in hyderabad....waiting for a response....

DO ride the bike for some time (continuous stretch of 15 minutes which involves heavy braking and sudden acceleration) then only u will feel the difference.

Well it isnt the most comfortable bike out there. But once you get used to it, it eases out a bit.

I think on every ride i go , the pain shifts to some other body part . First couple of rides it was the back and the elbows, yes i leaned in on them too much, you gotta keep em bent. Back pain no more, i sit straight and slouch alternatively if it hurts, on my last ride , my legs started to cramp, i had to get off from the bike and take a walk. I often have to change my feet position and the degree of arch of my back

I am curious to see what happens on my next ride.

Keep taking frequent breaks and there will never be a problem. Trust me the back pain is the last thing that you need to worry about. Keep you elbows slightly bent, dont slouch or sit too stiff, sit normally , hips closer to the tank, you should be fine .

P.S. - Some people have never faced anything of this sort at all, but even if you face, it can be dealt with, with a little prctice and good gear.

Please do note that it will void the yamaha warranty.. not that it covers much
thanks for that. I have been talking to joel about the modifications lately and i am soon going to install it.

Does the modifications void the warranty as you said. Cause my bike is just 3 months old now and done around 4k+ kms .

And guys, has anyone from mumbai installed joel's setup. As i am going to install the setup in my bike, i wanted to meet someone from MUMBAI who has done the mods. If anyone, then please reply here or on my mail id [email protected] .

i'm going to check that bike in 2 days. i will inform you after that...

and what you mean by top speed? 90+ ? also tell me how the bike should respond at those speeds ? cuz i didn't get a chance to take r15 90+ and i don't know how it goes....
Yes if possible, cross 80kmph and see. Take care to try this out on free roads only. In simple terms, the bike should feel as if you are riding a normal bike at around 40!

The engine will be super smooth and the handling will be precise, the bike will not wander all over the place or wobble etc.

                    • Problem with rear tyre and brake.

Yesterday i gave my bike to a local puncture repair shop for adjusting the rear wheel which was rotating in the wrong direction (I dont know how it got like that). Since the bike has come back i am hearing some sound from the back probably near the chain and brakes. Also, the rear brakes are responding very badly. Even if i put the full foot on the rear brake lever it works only 5% of what it used to do before.
                      What might be the problem??
Also i dont have any SVC where i am now, so i have to ride the bike 90 kms. Would it be safe to ride the bike in this condition. Kindly suggest.

Remember bro. come what may. NEVER let a local mechanic handle your bike in anyway!. dont even let him anywher near ur bike.. unless theyr filling up a puncture! Look what he has done to ur bike! Guess he dint install the disc brk properly .He might have messed up the callipers probably..

I dont know what to suggest since its a very long drive! 90 kms! Try to get the yamaha mechanic to your place instead. or else you'l ve to transport it in a mini truck or something

By wrong direction i mean that, as you know on the tyres there is a direction drawn as to how it should rotate when the bike moves, and it was opposite earlier.

Is that a serious issue?? How does it actually matter??

i dont think that is a serious issue, a wheel is a wheel no matter how it rotates .....but it is if he has screwed up the disc assembly on the wheel and since you mentioned you hear noises and that your getting only 5% braking, it wouldnt be advisable to ride 90kms with those problems.....suggest you get it rectified from a professional before setting off....... ride safe! im guessing the arrow mark is for assembling the brakes properly....im not sure...
No its not about speed, its about turning and shifting those gears!

Yes it is a serious issue, dont forget by putting the tyre in the wrong way will also result it tyre thread pattern working in a way for which it is not made. For example, in R15 tyres the side wall of our tyres have thread which permits the water to disperse from the side ways while riding in wet conditions. Imagine if thats not happening, you would not get the grip and may land up kissing the ground. The purpose of a tyre marker is that only, otherwise tyre manufacturer wont have wasted extra time, money and brains to mark the arrow on the tyre.
