Guyz , my bike does not accelerate as soon as it hits the redline, it accelerates smoothly upto that but then the speed becomes constant the needle does not even go into the red area. Is it normal ?

That small hole in the end for the holding spring of the main stand (If you want to get that fitted)Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View Post
Now, tell what is this eyehole there for? Its there only on the left side, the right side does not have it and it bangs against steep speedbreakers. Just why did they have to put it there!

Its an intentional bent made by yamaha themselves as the centre stand is witer from the bottom, hence the spring are has to be bent to take the shape.Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostIn that way, I think its good. Thanks! Though it was just a fall, the gears definitely did help.

Thanks! I won’t be concerned now.

He went into an uphill hair-pin bend in wet conditions in first gear and full throttle. The rear wheel spun out at full lean and we fell flat on the spot. He was probably doing 30kmph, so no major injury or damage to the bike. The engine cut off immediately. As far as I remember, there was no fuel leak as such
Good to know there wasn’t much damage.
Since the fuel dripping out was minimal, I will let it pass.
Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostYes its normal. The lid is not air tight - it allows in air when fuel is consumed and the level decreases.
Thanks! I guess the fuel dripped out, as I had just tanked up.

Thanks Shivanshu! I’m all ok.

My buddy changed his Pulsar 220-S headlight bulb to a white-light one recently. So i scammed his old bulb as it seemed quite bright and installed it in my RHS headlight for the high beam. Its a 35 watt bulb of the stock type so its a direct install. Its quite a bit more effective than the stock bulb is my opinion. Its a slightly whiter light and i think the beam shows on the road even on well-lit roads. Am just waitin for some time to get another one from Bajaj for the LHS headlight! It'll be super..
My friend's highly amused that i have a Bajaj part on my Yammie tho!
P.S. - a nice easy mod for a slight improvement in Headlight beam over stock, without any electrical changes.A good rider has balance, judgment, and good timing. So does a good lover!

Sorry to hear about the fall. Yes, by now many have said it-the fuel trickling out is common after a fall.Originally posted by tibby View PostHad a small fall this morning at Nandi Hills. Riding gear from head to toe saved me from injury.
As is customary, as soon as the bike fell flat on the road, the ignition got cut-off. I had tanked up on fuel this morning & the bike must have consumed about 2 litres when I had the fall.
I saw fuel trickling out of the tank (The lid was closed, & locked properly), albeit only a few ml of it.
My question here is:
1. Has anyone who has had a fall earlier, experienced the fuel tirckle out from the fuel lid?
2. Is it normal for fuel to trickle out (of any bike in general), or the knob is supposed to be air-tight?
Which is why I got a mainstand installed-the pin flew off once too!Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostIn that way, I think its good. All these days I thought my mono shock link is gone from the occasional beating, was happy to see that eyehole getting bent instead.
White lights are well, whiter, but the idea of giving yellow is for more visibility in rain/fog conditions.Originally posted by neoakshay View PostMy buddy changed his Pulsar 220-S headlight bulb to a white-light one recently. Hi Ashaq,
I wanted to know whether that "kit noise in potholes" got resolved or not as my story is similar to yours..when i drive at speed of around 20 or 30 kmph and hit any steep pothole i get the same sound from front..i got everything checked at Adarsh Yamaha Okhla, Delhi..only thing they want to check is to change the entire shockers with new ones and see if i still get the noise..still waiting for their reply whether they have received new shockers in their stock or not...
Plz reply ASAP..or just give me a missed call once..

well...it's sort of a weary feedback i would give...it definitely has not been resolved totally...and, there is no certain condition where this sound will come up...i got the whole handle assembly removed and re-installed, every nut tightened properly as shown on the service manual...the frequency of that sound has been reduced...but, it certainly is there..sometimes, i do hear that "kit" sound while going over a pot-hole at 20-30 or even less...more interestingly, i don't hear it while doing stoppies...!!Originally posted by [email protected] View PostHi Ashaq,

i just feel that there is something wrong with my bike
my bike is kinda ruff now .. no smoothness .. i feel like my bike slows down automatically after acceleration .. cooliant light comes on at times and i have this problem since the day i got the bike (cooliant is full) .. and i have completed 4200 km on the bike .. i got the bike in end of october 2010 .. had some engine problem which was resolved .. The firing(or what every its called) of the bike is not normal .. rpm comes down all the time even after increasing and stays on 1100 .. most of all .. my bike is just drinking petrol even when i ride the bike at 60-70 kmph ..
example : 3800 km done and i put petrol for 670 or 700 which is almost 11 liters and now its over in 4150 km ..
is it normal or what ? please help
PS : i dont care about what average its giving by still curious .Last edited by free2rock_50; 03-14-2011, 07:22 PM.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15
Your bike is less fuel efficient than most other bikes here. Because most of the bikes here have a range of at least for hundred kays for ten liters of fuel. That's about forty kays per liter.i just feel that there is something wrong with my bike

And regarding roughness get your bike services at a competent dealership and sort out all the niggles.
And fuel efficiently depends majorly on the way you ride y your bike. Doesn't matter if you ride at seventy or sixty. How you reach there matters. If you redline at first three gears and course along at sixty your bike will end drinking lot of petrol.

Hi,
I had posted earlier, regarding the tyres on my bike, just to refresh, I had bought my bike 2 weeks back, that monday was my first time riding a bike properly, I was very nervous and scared riding almost 50km back home, I was also very tired that day, which didn't help, since then I have covered around 400km's, confidence is improving, but I still get overtaken by the odd dio and splendour
The previous owner of the bike had put the rear tyre upfront and put a 120 section zapper vyde on the rear, this has played on my mind, I have ordered an original front tyre and will have it fitted tomorrow and put the rear back to where it belongs, the MRF dealer is not interested in taking the zapper vyde in part exchange, so will sell it off elsewhere.
Now to my point, today I had a 50km ride from North to South Goa on the highway, at speeds of 70kmph and above the slight breeze from the west (my right hand side) was pushing me across to the left and I was battling to keep the bike straight, I was riding more or less in an upright position, now as the breeze was really not much, it got me thinking the issue could be one of 2 things, 1) The tyre set up, with a rear upfront or 2) my riding posture, on the way back I was semi crouched and had zero issues, it could also be the road camber, but I have ruled that out, as mostly I was in the centre of the lane and I only overtake on the right, never on the inside of cars, trucks, buses etc.
Any ideas guys?Last edited by stefanm; 03-14-2011, 11:48 PM.Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

I got my 3rd Rear tire fixed in today and the rim was bent.
Now is there a solution to that or should I go in for a Rim Replacement.?? I put in a tube temporarily as I had to go back home, which is 22Kms.
I read, the tube can alter the characterstic and dynamics of the tire, but is it really true? Because, it would take me a week max to get a new alloy. Till then, should I keep the tube in?------------------------------------------------

Engine rev smoothly no sluggish feeling none what so ever. but when im in 5th gear and 6th gear there is this weird kind of sound emerging from somewher close to the engine. cant be precise because the sound is prominent when bike is in motion.. very less and not very prominent when still.
It sounds as if 2 metal plates are rubbing against each other but its dis- continuous..
