  • Is it not possible to put a 9ah battery in place of the stock 3.5ah battery?
    Yamaha YZF-R15 is Here

    Comment

    • fixing it is not a great thing sir ..
how will u generate 9 ah of current 2 recharge it ?

There is not enough current being produced to charge a 9ah battery in the bike.
The output of the coil is not that much ..
Lots of golmaal needs to be done in order to fix a 9ah ..
Im working on it , its the other electricals that may get hamperd .

      • Cant we change the Alternator to one which produces the amount of current required to charge a 9ah battery.

Santa no use pleading ...people here are going to do all sorts of odds, in spite of knowing what could be the end result.

So many times we have discussed and closed the topics below:

          1. Tyre change
          2. HID
          3. Horn
          4. Anti theft locking system etc.

Yamaha engineers should sit with them in Japan to understand the future needs

@ALL - No offense to any one but please for heavens sake leave the bike as it is, or sooner or later you guys will figure out what problems you'll have to face later.

Anyways am no one to stop you and i respect what so ever decision you guys take regarding modifying the bike but please do lots of research before doing any modification.

          Cheers!!!!!

          • u can no doubt , who says no .
u ll need to use a rectifier and regulator seperately instead of an rr unit .
and with such a set up u can never be sure of how much voltage builds up .

have done this on my pulsar when i was using a 140w bulb .
it works , needs lots of expt.

Have u seen how complex the wiring of the yzf is ???

Then u wouldn want a blown up r15. one wire cut and the bike wont budge , its like that.
the bike is super complicated .

            My 2 cents --- U cant ride without a hid ??????

OK thanks for the explanation. My bike's battery drains very quickly at night(using low beam) and all the electricals become very weak. Horn sounds weird. I have also felt some loss of power at night.

Have u got HID on ur bike? why is the battery draining so fast??? Mine doesn't show such behavior even if I ride in the city trafic for over an hour on high beam and I have a stebel magnum horn + 60w bulb for the right head lamp. also, I blow the horn without any hesitation.

                • where did you buy that horn (and price) .. don't know much about horns so a review will help .. also any alternatives.

+ add some info about the installation. Did you add the relay ?

Also does the bike support dual 60/55W bulbs ? Not sure if this question has been asked before.

To support Santa on this,I'l describe a small incident that "How complicated the wiring is....."

One day my bike just fell on the parking and indicators came out and u know what happened next..... engine malfunction signal came up.....and bike was not starting. I had to pull the indicators out along with wires and woooo the malfunction signal went out and engine started. Well then to get the indicators fixed it took 4 days here in Bangy... Courtesy YSC

                      • @hyd - I have not done any mod on my bike. I am using stock headlamps.

@Reuterian - I dont think that light is due to indicator. Once when my bike had a fall in the parking the light was on and engine did not start. After a few minutes it went off automatically and everything was normal.

I really think that YAMAHA should do something about the battery.

I am planning to get Osram SilverStar 55/60w bulbs now. Cost abt Rs 400 each. Nightbreaker is Rs 1600 a pair and it might drain the battery...

I got the Stebel Magnum set from ebay.in during early 2007 for my Swift. I sold the car but didn't want to part with those beautiful horns. I think and it costed me abt Rs 850 including postage.

For the R15, I didn't want to play around. There's hardly any space to fit in 2 pieced so I fixed the high tone one. The low tone piece and the relay box are on the attic

Abt the bulbs, Santa answered ur Q.

                          • @Santa :: On the R15? How come? Is it supporting? Weird stuff man!!! Feedback requested..

BTW as u know, I am running both bulbs in hi and lo beams. My office is in city( 1 hour or so). In 10 mins the radiator fan kicks in. After that, with both bulbs running and the radiator fan running as werll, the horn starts dying down and at one stage is just a croaking sound. Any idea why this is happening. But no other probs like ECU or fuel pump or headlights switching off or any other warning lights on the dial etc. Could there be a fault with the battery? Without the radiator fan, no issues whatsoever even for 2 -3 hours riding.

@ALL : Anyone else facing similar problems or issues?

That's the tilt sensors at work. They cut off the FI unit. You can either wait for some time so that the self check gets it back to normal or turn the ignition off and on again.

                              • My fan does not kick in anytime , Till now oly twice in 5600 kms .
Anyways that should not be a concern . Get coolant level chkd once.

Chuck the horn , for that squeak 2 go , the horn needs a little tune up . had same pblm on the stock set up(horn i mean), tuned it and gone.
