bike looks to be in trouble man .. it's strange that you don't know whether the fan works or not .. but give it another try and then run off to a service center. If it is kicking in in stop and go traffic then I guess it is ok .. The gearbox does get hot for me too and I think it is normal for a UCE. But the fan does kick in as required (at about 100 odd degrees) which is hot either way.

Niggle for me as well. Fan not working. Gotta go to the SS. It bums me out every time I have to see these guys, coz it feels like they dont know much. They are just there trying out each wrench and use whatever fits. No options though.sigpic

The Radiator will only run when the engine has begun to reach peak operation temperature. For all the cooling untill then, there is engine coolant oil. Its no fault man.
Your engine is only in danger if u can see the warning light on the dash. Its normal otherwise.sigpic

.:. ArchiWell, I just went through some really really bad stop n go traffic, and the fan DID work. But, by then the gearbox was smokin hot(ofcourse it wwasn't literally smoking, but it was as hot as an iron box or a pan on fire). It was hot enough to burn the skin. Now.. any thoughts on this?Originally posted by Joel View PostThe Radiator will only run when the engine has begun to reach peak operation temperature. @Joel:
My worry is not only about the engine..but also about the oil that it runs on. Cos, when the gearbox itself is so hot..imagine the temperature of the engine oil present inside the casing?Last edited by digislayer; 11-15-2008, 08:18 PM.Sunny.

if the fan's working why bother .. the gearbox will get hot enough to burn your feet anyway and the oil is designed to work under high temps.
And I share the same feeling about Yamaha Service stations. It actually is painful taking the bike there and you have to demand service to get your work done.

Why bother?? Just one reason..i've never seen it getting this hot even after a 100kms continuous trip, or a 20km stop n go traffic trip. But now?? It gets so freaking hot even after a 3 km continuous trip/stop n go trip!Originally posted by archibaby View Postif the fan's working why bother .. the gearbox will get hot enough to burn your feet anyway and the oil is designed to work under high temps.

In stop and go traffic u'll generally find that the engine is being heated really high. Its no worry. FYI, engine temperatures can shoot upto 150deg as well. Its much higher than the boiling point of water.Originally posted by digislayer View PostWell, I just went through some really really bad stop n go traffic, and the fan DID work. Also its not coz of the gearbox that u get the heat, the clutch is working along and produces the next most heat in the engine after the combustion chamber/cylinder.
Its all normal man, dont worry.sigpic

friends please help me...today i have filled coolant in the coolant reservoir but the problem is that the liquid is coming out from a pipe which comes out from the coolant chamber down at the bottom (open end).
Should this pipe be like that only?i mean would it remain with an open end down at the chasis? if yes...what is the reason behind it?
to be more elaborate on this let me explain...there are two pipes attached at the coolant chamber (not the radiator).one goes to the radiator the other goes down at the bottom which has an open end (not connected/attached with anything.i mean the radiator or the engine).
should it b like tht? or it has been detached from somewhere...???
please help me out.....NIHIL ULTRA

Buddy though i am not cent percent sure but i think that hanging pipe is for air deception as the coolant may generate hot air when it cycles between the coolant holder and hot radiator.Originally posted by souvikb83 View Postfriends please help me...today i have filled coolant in the coolant reservoir but the problem is that the liquid is coming out from a pipe which comes out from the coolant chamber down at the bottom (open end).
