    • Yesterday went to a temple on hill (1.5km hill road). Wen reached temple i found coolant leaking and several green stripes on stay, engine and stand coz of it. Took to nearby YSS and after chking they said coolant flowing tube is loose so the leakage happened.

      • Went to dealer with anger coz of two things
        1. last week wen i asked to clean my chain, they tightened the chain to the maximum. after riding 1km, noise was coming frm the engine side. I left the bike for 1/2 day in ss, at the end of the day they answered that they cant find anything wrong so asked me to bring tomorrow. I took to my mechanic and he scolded me for riding with that much of tension and he corrected.

        2. Wen i took my bike wen it reached 3k kms they told me service is only on 4k kms. Asked several times but the same answer. at that time i didnt chkd d the manual coz of their solid answer. But today chkd and it was mentioned 3k kms.

I argued, and told them coz of poor service am gonna take to nearby city YSS for servicing. then they promised me that bike will be srviced carefully. And all issues (front fairing vibration, back disc noise, alloy) wil be taken care of. So gonna ss for service on Saturday.

Though in my case, after replacing the desired amount, the temperature of the gear box and the engine hasnt shown any change. So, I guessed that its normal, but its hot nonetheless.
To replace the reservoir coolant, just remove the left middle fairing, the one marked 'Deltabox'

I've just checked the coolant level, and it's well above "low" level.. so it shouldn't be the coolant problem i guess
            Any more ideas??

If they are not huge & can be fitted on bike somwhere (like rare fins or something), can it be done?
Are you on a mission to mars or moon..... You know R15 is such a fragile bike that if you play around with it sooner or later you will come to know the damage done. The main concern as i quoted earlier is tampering of wires by some mechanic.........

My bike has already started giving lots of electronic problems... like while switching on keys the digital display goes numb without any sign of life. i need to redo the drill to pump some life...starting problem, i'm getting sick day by day.... i myself don't know where to take the bike for checkup on Saturdays... Orion no chance, Panache boring guys with little knowledge, others will say no time..... This experience has frustrated me so much that i feel am riding a cycle with a motor which needs drilling session to pump life and to move forward

Why dont you take your bike for check up to the doctor (Yamaha Service Center)

OMG thats scary.. why don't you try pacer motors . I feel they are good.I had few small issues and they fixed it then and there... my second service is due and am in a big ? what to do.. Giving the bike for service = more issues in the bike. And get free problems with it .. I have to some how convince pacer motors to give me the second service by just washing the bike and signing that bldy service manual. is anyone service scheduled / due i am planing to go tomorrow to pacer if anyone wants to club along do pm me.

                    • Hey, has anyone installed a tyre hugger similar to the one in the pic shown at the Auto Expo?
The pic says NA (Not Applicable), and there is no such accessory available at the Yamaha Dealers as well. Has anyone got any ideas about getting anything similar to this as an aftermarket accessory from any local bike modification centers etc.?

                      • Well, the bike was designed to have a "tyre hugger". Hence the chain guard cuts off at the point where the tyre hugger was supposed to be. The lack of this has caused a design flaw wherein the chain acts as a conveyor to take dirt (specially wet sand) directly to the drive sprocket and then you experience the infamous 1 5 noise.

So what I did was fabricated an extension using
                        1. A CD/DVD (Don't ask me whether it should be blank or not)
                        2. Instant adhesive
                        3. Sand paper
                        4. Paper clips
                        5. Hammer, screwdriver OR a hacksaw blade.
                        6. Permanent marker (black) (OPTIONAL)

Step 1: Remove the chain cover and copy a pattern onto the CD so that you provide enough cover to end up behind the rubber flap.
Step 2: Cut out the pattern (or chisel it out)
Step 3: Sand paper the CD to remove the reflective surface (also to provide some grip to the ashesive). Sand paper the edges as well to smoothen them.
Step 4: Colour the CD black
Step 5: Wash, clean and dry both the chain cover and the CD.
Step 6: Apply glue to both the CD and the chain cover and then apply pressure to stick them together.
Step 7: Attach a paperclip to secure the pieces in place and then glue the paper clip in place.

DISCLAIMER: I am not to be held responsible for any damages to you or your bike caused by mis-fabrication.

WARNING: If not done right, the piece may fragment and cause a puncture or other damages. So be careful to choose a piece of plastic that will shatter easily and also be small enough not to hinder any of the moving parts.

if the radiator fan isn't working, the coolant can help only to an extent. Firstly understand that the radiator fan will not need to run if you are traveling large distances without stops as there is enough heat transfer from the radiator due to the wind flow. So get into some stop and go traffic and if your fan is not running on a hot sunny afternoon after 10-15 mins of stop and go traffic go to a YASC immediately.

The radiator does work at times of stop n go travel...but why doesn't it kick in when the temperature is so high that even the gearbox is burning hot? I agree the wind might be cooling the radiator..but then why does the gearbox get a chance to heat up so much? the only reason i'm worried is cos it'll screw my engine oil, which i guess might've already been done
