  • Yesterday a strange thing happened with me, the clutch wire snapped from the middle, made temporary arrangeents and rode the bike by pulling the wire by hand.
Has anybody else faced the same problem?
One of the awesome feelings I had in my life is to see the world receding on my back mirror

yes tubless has an adv no doubt , that doesn mean , it can never give way.it loses pressure gradually when has a small puncture , if a big one , then ??
the adv is when the nail has pierced and is staying in ther , u still can ride ,
i got a puncture cos of my offroading :-D
not a nail or anything .
stones were the cause for my puncture , the rubber from the tyre had come off.. like a hole u see..then tubeless wont help u much

      Santa

Guys.. My bike had a 1 inch puncture recently. I had only only two choices at that case.. Either to use the tubeless tyre with a tube or buy a new tyre.. Finally I settled with a new tyre Zapper tyre.. It costed me 1600 bucks...
So tubeless tyres makes a hole in our pocket if the puncture is big...

I remember some in this thread saying his clutch cable also broke.. He had to wait for couple of weeks for the new one(if I'm correct)..
So check with the showroom guys whether they have a spare one....

You settled for a Zapper for Rs 1600...??? is that the one that comes with the R15 or did you go for something like Zapper Voye???

BTW, if you get a cut on a tyre, the tubed ones are no good either... The max u can do is to place a tyre rubber inside that cut and stick it, then place the tube... (same for a tubeless tyre too) but then that bumps ur bike in every rotation...

          • Rust and all

Read some really disturbing stuff about rusting on the bike. What is Yamaha's policy on it?I dont want to spend a lakh on a bike and then deal with rust.....Have you made any modification to your bike besides changing the position of the shift gear?I would like to change the horn, the one on the bike whimpers.
Also does R15 have any underseat storage or anywhere else?is it possible to add it?Did you put that security system on your bike?how much does it cost and does it drain battery?Done anything with the headlights?

            • I rode as a pillion on the R15 today for a short distance today. Here is my view on the Pillion comfort.

              * The Seat is quite comfy.
              * The grab rails are ergonomic and do not cause any stress on your palm.
              * The foot pegs are a tad too high for my liking. I sprained my leg once when trying to get on it wearing a tight pair of jeans.
              * Apart from that the seating position allows you to crouch forward just like the rider.

I feel that Had the exhaust been lowered by an inch or two, and the footpegs along with it, then it would have been exceptionally well for tall guys like me.

I went for the same tyre which the stock R15 has.. 1600 is damn pricy.. But i got it from authorised MRF dealer with bill..

Internationally also, production of the 08 Ninja has stopped, 09 Ninja will be priced 500$above the 08 version, but no major changes-still an analog display with a carb, no FI yet. Still feel the 1 5 is technologically a superior vehicle, though the Ninja will churn out somewhere close to 30 horses. Would suggest the R15 as better VFM!
Why would r 15 be better VFM if Ninja comes for 1.8 laks

Ninja 250 has been quiite succesful in many countries n has many advantages like
power ,bike bike looks ,more stable at higher speeds ,nice 130/140 tyres , around 26 Bhp ,better head light, top speed 165 + ,,,,,,,,,,

But it doesnt have Fi but has nice Dual Keihin carburetors n its power train design has been helped by Kozo Arai whos a Bike racer

                        • Tintumat, if your gear lever is again straightened to normal (after hammering n all) be sure to paint it, otherwise itd rust for sure...

i hope that's the only damage done .. how did you skid ? on sand / gravel ?
