@shee3 - i am trying to get my hands on the stunner's hugger, because it will be a direct fit for the 17 inch rear of the R15. You will have to remove the mud flap between the suspension and the tyre though.

5th Free Service
Got my 5th free service done at the Factory SVC, Malad, Mumbai... Total cost Rs. 415/- for the oil... Total kms covered till date: 6,500 kms... I know thats not very much... but don't find time with work pressure and all...
Found the service work to be satisfactory in terms of work done... however... when I went to collect the bike I found that it was not washed... had to wait for an hour before it was done so after I pointed out the same to them... just makes me wonder... how can someone work on bike that is dirty... why not wash the bike before working on it.... its certainly not good practice to work on a dirty bike..... if this is how they operate at the Factory SVC, how do they operate at other outlets...Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

Today i had a big quarrel with the Yamaha factory shop svc. Went for engine oil and oil filter change. I had already changed the oil to Yamalube SL MINERAL 20W40 when buying the bike as i wanted to do the run in of my bike with mineral oil and not the semi synth oil that came with the bike from the factory. Today when i went again for the oil change (this is a different svc, not from where i bought my bike), they refused to put the mineral 20W40 oil saying that the R15 is meant only to run with the Yamalube semi synth 20W50 oil and they are not authorized to use the mineral 20W40 on it. I told them that its written clearly in the manual that either 20W40 or 20W50 oil can be used and there is no such mention that it has to be only semi synth. The way they behaved with me was really bad. I wanted to talk to the showroom manager but he wasnt there.
I want to complain to Yamaha about this matter. Before that, can anyone confirm me from the manual about the recommended engine oil? I havent got the manual yet. I have taken the names of two of the employees who told me all this at the svc.Last edited by theguitarfreak; 07-31-2010, 11:19 PM.You can only ride better tomorrow if you ride safe today.

Buy it and get it changed from any mech(best, do a DIY)

they will apologize for the same. they should!
but the same case is with everyone, even i faced the same situation during the first service

got the bike checked by yamaha mechanic. he has tuned the idle RPM somewhat OK, and according to him, bad/poor fuel in my tank is the culprit. however, this morning had an amazing observation. the engine does not stall or die completely, rather, it goes to a sort of hibernation when i pull in the clutch during deceleration. i see the rev counter dropping to zero and if i release the clutch with a hint of throttle, the engine just wakes up. no problem what so ever. it did not use to happen brfore during the first 2200 KMs, so, surely there is still some problem left untreated.Originally posted by svjhonda View PostThe idling should be adjusted on a warmed up engine. So first and foremost, open the airbox, clean the inside, clean the airfilter and then set the engine idling speed on a warmed engine. If the problem still persists, then maybe there's something wrong with the idle rpm screw. Check that. Also check the throttle cable tension and get the free play adjusted.
can anyone please let me know what is happening....??

Seems like you got the Yamalube semi-synth oil. Most of them here are not happy with this oil. I've just bought a can of Motul SS yesterday. Can't wait to replace the Yamalube SS in my bike, after it turns bad that is.Originally posted by abhimanyu31 View PostGot my 5th free service done at the Factory SVC, Malad, Mumbai... Sometimes they end up servicing an unwashed bike, coz in cases where they don't have a rollover bike from previous day, they will have nothing to do until the first bike of the day is washed
This happened at a factory shop!! Drop a complaint to Yamaha. They might take some time, but will respond.Originally posted by theguitarfreak View PostToday i had a big quarrel with the Yamaha factory shop svc. Went for engine oil and oil filter change. I made a complaint against a dealer here a fortnight ago, getting into a discussion with Yamaha & the dealer over the coming weekend.

Hmmm.. Both being SS oils, albeit different brands, is it really necessary?Originally posted by sheelpriye View Post@tibby--replace the oil filter as well when you decide to go in with the new oil.
Was wondering coz the filter costs just as much as the oil

well, the point is, if you have done more than 5000kms on the same filter, you may consider a change.Originally posted by tibby View PostHmmm.. Both being SS oils, albeit different brands, is it really necessary?

If both oils are same, would changing brands help?

Arre! I said both are SS, not ditto oils in different packaging.Originally posted by sheelpriye View Postwell, the point is, if you have done more than 5000kms on the same filter, you may consider a change.

BTW, oil filter change is recommended every 10k Kms na?
Are you suggesting a change only coz I'm moving from Yamalube=>Motul na? Rephrasing, sticking on to Yamalube SS during next oil change wouldn't have required an oil filter change na?
