    • Battery

AFAIK, there are no other brands making the R15 type of small, MF, VRLA batteries. Last time I checked, it was 1700INR and about 2000 in the Yamaha showroom. The R15 battery is 3.5 Ah and the Amaron probiker ones are 5, 7, 9 Ah, but not the dry type used in the R15, won't fit the housing, unless you get a special clamp made

@satyen: How long did the battery last? 2yrs?

And electrical mods on the bike? HID?

I guess it died due to lack of riding the bike.... I mean my bike clocked some 26K KMs in 6 months and 2K KMs in next 6months

The reason my friend is the excellent dynamo/ alternator that charges the system very well. The battery doesn't even have enough juice to power the pilot lights for long . 5 or more min with just the pilots on drains the battery

No issues at all so long as the engine is running

                • Really?? Since when did akrapovic start making custom exhausts for R15?
AFAIK, Akras come specific for each bike model, and imagine them making a custom one for an R15 ???

Check if there's a 3.5 AH battery from Amaron... If Tata green is available go for it. It's been quite reliable. If amaron has one available in the same specifications as needed i think it would be the better choice.

                          • The SVC guy mentioned that it is avoidable using fully synthetic engine oil as it doesn't lubricate the clutch to the desired level making gear shifting difficult and in time wearing out the clutch plates etc. The preferred oil is semi-synthetic which serves a dual purpose for the reasons above. The chap also mentioned that they recommend the same to R1 owners.

                              Hi Guys!!!!!!
Met with an accident on my 20 days old blue R15. It happend when i entered in an empty space on road without giving a thought and banged into a 3 wheeled bicycle rickshaw. It was really bad luck that exactly at that place there was gravel, so i applied brakes very slowly and result...BANG!!!!!!!

Front mask, headlights mudguard were damaged. Price of front mask is not as given few pages back. Here's the estimate bill of parts to be replaced. Please see if there's any disparency in prices

the clutch plates of the R15 can take the synthetic oil. It was the bullet which had issues with synthetic oil reducing the friction of the plates.
