2 years now , needed to change the coolant , Plus
with 2 years of highway riding , and offroading and stone hits , small ones ,chances of a puncture/fin damage down the line is high.
So better saving 5700 rs now than me paying from my pocket later.
Also need to get a mesh cover done for the radiator like on the comet Oil cooler.

I want to know that from where are u looking the bike when specifying LHS and RHS bcoz my bike is just a month old and if i sit on the bike then the radiator cap is on RHS and horn on LHS.......Originally posted by HydBiker View PostGuys, after my Ladakh tour the R15 is in the workshop now for 27K service.
They are changing the Radiator. Didn't get to speak to them clearly on the details but will get the details soon. The new radiator has its cap on the LHS as against RHS for the older ones. I am sure they would replace all those that have their horn mounted on the radiator. But then, if the cap has changed the side, I guess they would go ahead and replace for all the R15's. Will confirm more details in a few days.
BTW, my R15's radiator was replaced once in 2009 due to leakage at the horn mount. This was a new radiator - after the 2009 models came out with horn mounted on the chassis. The service manager knows this thing clearly.

Couple of queries
Guys, my bike is a year old now, & I have exhausted all free services.
Can you please tell me what is the cost of a paid service at Yamaha SVCs? Is it uniform (determined by Yamaha), or varies from SVC to SVC?
I think it is about INR 450 for R15 at Perfect Riders, Bangalore. Not sure though.
Also, I can't seem to locate the drain period of Yamalube semi-synthetic engie oil. Help on this also pls?

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

It varies, not just with the SVC, but also with the tasks you get done.Originally posted by tibby View PostCan you please tell me what is the cost of a paid service at Yamaha SVCs? Is it uniform (determined by Yamaha), or varies from SVC to SVC?

I've used it for about 4K kms.without any topup. Also, I can't seem to locate the drain period of Yamalube semi-synthetic engine oil. Help on this also pls?
@All: Has anyone tried the new Yamalube fully-synthetic engine oil yet?
I heard the grade is 10w40&it costs ~630 p.l., but I would like to know the drain period as well.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

No worries...they are available as spare.Originally posted by sheelpriye View Post^Some son of a bitc* peeled off my tank stickers and the rear fender one.
Imagine my plight-some bugger ripped off the LHS fairing sticker. I rode my bike for a few months with a plain LHS, then got it changed.
I'm willing to donate that old fairing to someone who would like to try some experiments.

Ok. But atleast a fair idea?Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostIt varies, not just with the SVC, but also with the tasks you get done.
What about only servicing (wash+checkup). No replacements of anything.
Bangalore guys, any help?

It is not related to air pressure. Particularly if it is a 5 psi +/- the actual value. The front shock shouldn't bottom out a LOT. Even Pulsar's don't bottom out every time you brake hard. At least mine doesn't. Even two other R15's I rode for a while and took over speed breakers & potholes didn't. Please get it checked.Originally posted by sheelpriye View PostI have a air-pump which has an analogue gauge to read out air pressure,
the pressure read out is a steady 28psi and still my front bottoms out a lot under HARD braking.
Also, may be the sound is from the cone set.
As SVJHONDA suggested, take out the pads, see if there is something wrong. clean & and sand paper them. smoother the disk surface too with a sandpaper. This should help if the problem was only with the dirt or pads. Also check if the rear disc has a bend (if the alloy is bent the disc also bends)Originally posted by sveetvenom View Posthalo guys,...my rear brake pads were replaced during my last service around a month back,...however they are still making a screeching noise every time i apply them, even now,..should i take it seriously?,..what can i do to stop the noise?
ThanksOriginally posted by Sarvajit View PostCongrats on successfully completing the Ladakh trip! Waiting to see the thread.

Yet to collect my R15 as I am down with cold since Sunday. Bit better now but not enough to ride a bike.
It is not that car fan belt kind of sound. It is the different vibes you get from the engine when at idle and you hold the clutch it is gone. This has become more and off late I could feel some vibes at about 8K RPM and above.Mine also has the sound, you know about it, but it is off&on.
Didn't snap any photos. Also, didn't try that earlier. My cable got snapped at ASRao Nagar at 12 PM on a HOT day. I came to Sec'Bad MG Road to to get the cable on my friend's bike and went back to change it. It was about 3:00 PM while I was changing the cable - was hot and had no foodPlease post a DIY, it would be very helpful for tourers.
But yeah, it is pretty easy. Just gotta know how to take the edge out from the lever and then the two route points inside the fairing.
As Surender mentioned, the clutch bell needs to be sent to lathe machine and the bush inside needs to be changed. Nothing else is being done on my bike. It shouldn't cost much. Will post it once I pay them up.How much does this cost? And what about the housing-was that changed as well? If yes, how much?
It costed about Rs 3500. At that time I have posted the bill too.You have told me about this, as well as the radiator incident. What was the cost of the rear alloy?
Welcome to xBhp.Originally posted by surendar View Posthi, all
i am new to this site, and i am proud owner of black R15 ,completed 20000 kms on the odo,, my clutch bell started producing very much irritating sound when it was 10k kms old..... ,so clutch is removed , given to the lathe and rectified , after 5000kms the rattling sound started again,,,, what to do pls suggest,,where can i get the clutch bell bush , it is unavailable in coimbatore,,,,,
Same thing is being done for my R15 now. I have first noticed this problem at around 6K service. The bushes were not available. Also, there is no rattling sound even now. Just a different vibes and a different sound when idling.
Take a dripping wet cloth and clean your tyre. Then clean again as if you are applying water to the tyre. You'll then see a lot of tiny air bubbles leaking the air slowly. Soft compound tyre. Can't help it.rear tyres have also some air leaking problems , i always inflate the rear tyres up to 33psi after two days it drops to 20 psi. no punctures svc said.......
If your bike doesn't have an issues with tappets, don't set it. If there is a problem and they still don't attend, try calling the Yamaha Customer Care.still now i have not done the valve clearance , during every service i insisted the service manager to do the tappet clearance, but they some how convincing me,,, what will happen if the clearance is not correct...
hehe, good one. May be you are right. There was one bike like that at the SC, asked a mechanic "is that the new radiator" he said "yes". May be it was just hanging and not fixedOriginally posted by santoosh View Post@hyd biker
Replaced the radiator with a new one . The cap is still very much on the RHS.
Some nutty mech must have fit it the wrong side when u saw :-P
Check again.

Saw one for Vixion in an Indonesian website almost two years ago (I think someone posted it in this thread) but couldn't get it.
Same as you did. While sitting on the bike. As told above, there is a 100% chance that I was wrong about the radiator.Originally posted by painreloaded View PostI want to know that from where are u looking the bike when specifying LHS and RHS bcoz my bike is just a month old and if i sit on the bike then the radiator cap is on RHS and horn on LHS.......
Rs 250 for the service is standard. Consumables extra.Originally posted by tibby View PostGuys, my bike is a year old now, & I have exhausted all free services.

No one generally mentions engine oil drain period on the cans. You are supposed to see what suits you and what doesn't void warranty.
I was told that it would first come to those workshops that have an R1 capsule. Pearl Yamaha's order was in process (a month ago) and I have to find out if the stock has come in.Originally posted by Sarvajit View Post@All: Has anyone tried the new Yamalube fully-synthetic engine oil yet?

Call up your SC and ask them about it. Or request a friend get the bike services.Originally posted by abh1nav View Postguys i have a problem regarding the service of my bike. i am currently out of town and my bike is due for third service. it will probably get delayed by around 10 days. will that be a problem? and will i get the free service now?
Else, you can pay Rs 150 + free service coupon to get it serviced.
Else, you skip that free service coupon & do the next free service.
These are the options I know with Pearl Yamaha in Hyderabad. So, calling up your SC would be a good idea either to convince them to allow you to get your free service done 10 days after or to know what next.Last edited by HydBiker; 06-30-2010, 04:56 PM.
