  • Rev-limiter!

The rev-limiter is set to 10.5k rpm on all R15's.. If u notice the bike redlines at 10.5k rpm. Rev-limiters are installed to prevent damage to the engine by the bike being over-revved. (Remember the drag-races in NFS Underground? )

Note that performance ECU's have the rev-limiter deactivated. On a street bike, engine longevity is most important, so manufacturers use rev-limiters.

we were talking about red seat cowl

i guess you are looking for something of this colour
        check this out

its tomato red and should match the colour of your bike
i wonder the seat cowl you saw was dark shaded, even that colour is not available. i got it confirmed again
maybe the one you saw was the same colour only..

                  • guys, im facing a strange problem since a few days.
in the morning, my rpm level would reach around 2k!! and then settle down to 1.6k.
so on a warm engine, i set the rpm level to 1.3k, next morning, i see the rpm went approximately to 1.7k, but the issue is that it was not constant there, it was kind of shivering! the tacho needle was constantly going up and down...never happened before..what could be the reason???
                    help me out here guys
posted a video too...the quality ain't too good thanks to size constraints due to slow internet...
                    YouTube - R15 idling problem.

you can see this too, the rpm in the next video is quite higher than normal. so i set it according to the norms to see the above the next day..
started my bike after 11 days..started in one crank, no problems no issues..pretty sure it won't mind not being ridden longer!have better quality videos too ...

Bro, the fast idling when the bike is started isn't an issue! Its programmed that way. The bike has a 'fast idling mechanism' which makes cold starts easier. So after the ignition stabilizes, the rpm settles down. So all you need to do is clean the airfilter, ride the bike for atleast 5kms (to get it to warm up) and set idle rpm. That's it.
                      You get the point?? :D

the bike would hesitate to start after a prolonged stoppage (like in the morning) did you noticed some problems like that? YEs i have this problem.

When did you last serviced the bike? I did it 4 week ago

Akshay my bike is only 5 months old
5 months old... huuh.. Then what was the problem with your battery? that you changed it so early? Must have been done under warranty right? If that is the case I would suggest you take it to the same SC and explain them the problem.

He should check for battery health, the current and voltages.. if in case it is okay, check for the air filter element and clean it. After doing so warm up the bike and set the idling to 1.3 to 1.5 k rpms.

I hope this should solve the problem if any. Let us know what comes out of it.

                        Cheers!

                        • Battery problem?

Guys, I have a 17 month old R15. Here are some of my observations:
                          1. The horn sounds loud & clear when operated with the pilot lamps OR with all lights off
                          2. The horn sounds low when operated with the HL in low beam.
                          3. The horn sounds very low when operated with the HL in high beam.

It seems that the battery is not sufficiently charged!
I ride the bike daily for 25kms each way (to & from work), & it should be getting charged during the ride!!
What do you guys make of this?

If I need to get it charged, can it be done at a local battery shop (SVC is 10 Kms away)?

PS: The stock battery in my bike is a Tata Green. I have not got it charged externally yet.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Yeah, there shouldn't be issues with the battery actually! I'm in the same situation. Ride 25kms to & fro everyday!

I'm using a twin beam setup for the the low beam, and even with headlights, brake lights & indicators on, the horn doesn't sound weak....

                            Maybe your horn needs tuning.

yes, possibility is that the battery is not getting charged
                              should undergo a battery checkup

Hey, Can you please tell me how you did that... I am not satisfied with the low beam, having only one light ON. Btw, aren't there any warranty concerns when you do that.
