You have to get it done outside, may cost you about 3-4K.
Its very important that the paint shade etc.is matched perfectly. I can help you with this if you are really serious about it.

I have 2 lube cans, one dry type is almost over&the other one I got recently, so please feel free to come&use it. I will do it for you if you don't know how to do it!
U use the oil for 4-4.5K kms? But u r a tourer and my riding is mostly in city....sometimes highway riding.....so will it last for 4K kms for me too?

Get it done outside? Yamaha people dont respray it? But 3-4K?? Is it worth? Yeah am serious about it but i stay in hyderabad What about you? And i just want to paint the body only i love the present BLACK alloys

Thanks for that brother but i wanted to know if running the chain without lubing after the wash is an option???
Fun begins only after 6K rpm.....!

Never had this problem even in continuous heavy downpours. There must be a gap somewhere in the sealing of ur RHS headlight.

cant really say buddy. it might be the oil. fist check the oil level, if it is low top it up. agip R4t is a really good oil. it might be something to do with viscosity. 5w 40 is a bit too low. if it is a true full synthetic, then 5w 40 is not actually a problem but if it is not (like the shell ultra 4t which is labeled as a full synth but actually is not) then the viscosity changes causes engine to be harsh. there is a way to know this. see if the engine is smooth before the engine gets fully warmed up, ie for the first 5-10 kms after initial startup. if it is, then it is definitely something to do with the oil, especially on an relatively old engine which has covered more than 10k kms assuming that your tappets have been adjusted atleast once.

next time, try motul 300v 15w 50(rs 895/-). that is one of the best oils many users including me have came across for r15.

trust me, an r15 which does 145 regularly are rare and is better than most of ours. personally, i've never seen my r15 cross 140

              • Got My Clutch housing replaced under Warranty which had a MRP of 1275 IRS. Also, got to know that the initial lot R15 upto 2009 R15 comes up with 5 clutch plates compared to the later one that comes fitted with FZ's 4 Clutch plates

                Result: Better Pick up!

Check it for yourself... the newer lot of R15 comes up with just 4 Clutch plates... compared to 5

                • ^^^ To my knowledge and as per the discussion here over an year ago, the R15 comes with 5 friction plates and 4 clutch plates (metal). But I really doubt if they have changed it.

Have you seen it in your bike? Dones anyone else know this for sure?

Are you sure dude? Last time it was sounding great when I rode it.
Or is it in your mind? Do one thing, pull that helmet visor down-everything will be smooth!

It should easily last. In fact in city the oil tends to get spoilt even quicker due to constant stop-go traffic conditions. But yeah, that is a good oil&I used it once till almost 5K kms.!

I stay at Madhapur, Hyderabad. Yamaha will not do it, you need to visit an outside painter with the right shade. I know a few guys out of personal experience with my bikes&cars.

Thanks for that brother but i wanted to know if running the chain without lubing after the wash is an option???
Lubing is for smooth movement of the chain-if it is not lubed frequently, the parts will run against each other&eventually ruin the chain+front+rear sprockets. Oh yeah, hard gearshifts, loss of power all in the game!

This happens in my bike too. The flap of the parking lights allow moisture through.
I have even seen moisture in my speedo console after heavy rains. I ignore it, its gone by the next morning.

So there is some meaning behind what JD was saying long back about this.
But I doubt if R15 can run on FZ clutch plates, maybe the housing is similar.

                    @freakzil: Did you check?

@Shivanshu: Rode my R15 for 50-60kms.in the city today, after a LONG time. Got 3 micro punctures plugged, pollution check done. It feels good now, hope the pressure loss issue is solved.
Even then, a tyre with 5 total plugs in it won't last too long IMO! Let's see, waiting for the new R15&some new balance in my account too!

                    • I'm currently 8.1k kms on the ODO and my rear tires have gone bonkers. A little extra tap on the rear brakes and the wheel begins to fishtail. I gear brake a lot nowadays to avoid that. The tires seem to have lost all grip. THe treads are still there, pretty much intact, but the absolute centre patch is smooth, but that's how the new tire was! I don't know why, but I feel the quality of the compound on the tire is the issue.

It starts to slide if I use the rear brakes a little more than a gentle tap. That's not how it used to behave earlier. This is P220-esque behavior. Is something wrong with my brake pressure? Or the tire?
                      D'oh!

My bike is at 19k with stock tyres (with very good treads), & I'm facing the same fishtailing thing on heavy braking (front+rear in sync). I think its normal.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Correction! The 20P1 & 20P2 models came with 4 clutch plates & 5 friction plates, and 38B1 model onwards it's changed to 3 clutch plates and 4 friction plates. And yes, from 38B1 model onwards they're using the FZ's clutch components for the R15.

goddamn it. so that was the yamaha way of increasing low end torque sacrificing top end?

also are both the components backward compatible?

Not Sure about the FZ clutch thing, but yeah I was there whole time when the right crankcase was being opened. Checked it myself, the mechanic re-installed 5 clutch plates on the newly installed housing. While my bike was being mended, a 2010 model Black R15 came with the same problem, and i checked on his.. it just had 4 clutch plates...

U remember I told you long time back on my post that when I rode my fren's 2010 R15 on highway.. I felt that the bike was taking too long to reach 90 where as mine reaches comparatively in better time... I guess that was the main culprit behind it.... Sacrifice and cut down on here and there things... result.. make lots of profit and fool its customer...
