some days back I heard 1 news that those R15 which are bought new<you also>will be replaced only the tail portion,so dont worry.when it launches just go to service centre & ask for replacement. They may charge you 3000 more.Originally posted by hardcorebiker View Postbuddy i had booked the bike on 1st novemeber and there was no speculation that time...

Why do you say that? For what kind of oil? In what riding conditions?Originally posted by akhilmuraleedhar View Postchange the oil every 2k kms cumpolsorily. do not wait for 3k kms.
You're jumping the gun. Yamaha HO should be brought into the picture if the SVC is not able to solve the problem after repeated attempts. Let the member first go to the SVC & get the bike checked.Originally posted by akhilmuraleedhar View Postif the bike still over heats sent a complaint to yamaha head office . they will get the bike checked by a company engineer.
I use Motul & find it good. You have other cheaper options like OKS lube (INR 370), & Yamalube wet type (INR 300 IIRC).Originally posted by shrinathrao View PostAlso i would like to know which is the lube you all recommend for the R15 as i bought the motul chain clean and lube but heard lot of negative reports about it so not used till now.
See attached pic. I have circled the 2 adjustment screws, but they are not completely visible here due to the clip-ons.Originally posted by shrinathrao View Posthey man i tried searching them but confused which is the actual screw to tight, can you please help me.
You can adjust the beam either using a spanner, or a + screw driver.
The NGK Iridium costs INR 500. NGK GP+ costs around INR 150. Normal NGK plug will cost about INR 70-80.Originally posted by Ascetic View PostAnd what would be the cost of sparkplug???

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

I dont understand what plans Yamaha has, because bringing in a face-lifted model without any engine upgrades whatsoever, yet keeping the price similar doesn't do anything but confuse a whole lot of customers. I know Bajaj is doing it with the Pulsar 220F and Street, but there, the differences are major. Just changing the tail section of the bike and putting a different price on it makes no sense. They will be producing two types in the same segment. Isn't that a manufacturing and sales issue?
I just don't get it. Either they phase out the current R15 and replace it with the new one, or give the new one a FULL makeover, like the Karizma/ZMR story.D'oh!

What differences have you guys felt between the 20P1 or 20P2 and the 38B1? Not just things like low-end or high-end power, fuel economy or such.. I'm referring to the FEEL of the bike itself. I feel there's A LOT of difference in the sound and smoothness of the engine.. the 20P models are surprisingly MUCH smoother! What do you guys think?Originally posted by digislayer View PostCorrection! The 20P1 & 20P2 models came with 4 clutch plates & 5 friction plates, and 38B1 model onwards it's changed to 3 clutch plates and 4 friction plates. And yes, from 38B1 model onwards they're using the FZ's clutch components for the R15.

I really can't comment on a 38B as I have not seen the internals of the same. However, 20P is a very solid piece of machinery. The build quality is fantastic.Originally posted by neoakshay View PostWhat differences have you guys felt between the 20P1 or 20P2 and the 38B1? In my opinion the changes made in the clutch assembly will have some effect, though not necessary that it is a degrading effect. Its just that the way the power is handled from the crank to the gearbox will have changed, creating a different set of vibes and resonance. This is just an educated guess, but based on experiences I have had till date working on 2 strokes.Last edited by abhimanyu31; 01-14-2011, 12:59 AM.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

What you say might be true.. Coz I own a 38B and i think its rather vibey and loud-sounding than the 20P's.. Also low-end pickup is lower than the 20P.A good rider has balance, judgment, and good timing. So does a good lover!

Not true... in 38B the ignition timing has been retarded for better low end response... that's another factor why the bike may feel different to the 20P...Originally posted by neoakshay View PostAlso low-end pickup is lower than the 20P.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

Yes it will, but not by a great margin... there are lots of other variables that can lead to change in the exhaust note which may be individual bike specific... for example, the condition of the engine, the condition of the exhaust system, etcOriginally posted by neoakshay View Postbut do you think these small changes could alter the way the bike sounds?Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.
