any issues in the gear shifting and all ?Originally posted by ZeNashB View PostI just installed the Pirelli MT75 100/80-17 M/C 52P tire on my rear rim. Its got a great looking tread, plus the same compound as the R15's stock tire. Overall, it costed me 1.9k. I was initially looking for a 110/80 section tire, but later changed my mind since I didn't want to compromise on anything.
The Pirelli tire has been behaving really well. Grip levels are good too, and you get the added center patch tread (which I prefer over flat center patch). If you want a good tire, go for it

Nope.Originally posted by kangaroO raT View Postanother doubt guys , is the oil fiter of the FZ and R15 same?
+1 on that.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostDon't mess around with your new bike-its good as it is. The whining noise is a characteristic of the newer ones, like the older ones have the clutch bell noise. We ignore this, you ignore that!
Shall pin this up for my next tyre change.Originally posted by ZeNashB View PostI just installed the Pirelli MT75 100/80-17 M/C 52P tire on my rear rim.
@shrinathrao, why would the tyre change (that too same size) upset the gear shifts?

How many times have you changed tyres till now?Originally posted by HydBiker View PostShall pin this up for my next tyre change.
My bike is still running (off late only standing) on stock tyres. Rear is in a real bad shape-too many micro punctures&air loss everyday.
If you are thinking of immediate replacement, I suggest waiting to see what rubber the new R15 is coming with.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

the manual havent given the full description on how to adjust the chain slack of r15. you will have to loosen the wheel nut and the rear brake caliper holding bolt to adjust the chain slack(use a ring spanner to remove the brake caliper holding bolt, you might have to remove the silencer heat shield if your spanner doesnt have sufficient head length to reach the bolt). after that adjust the plates(chain puller) to tighten the chain. and tighten everything back. manual doesnt describe the brake caliper part.Originally posted by ZeNashB View PostIf its ok with you, can you describe the process? I mean, what bolts to tighten/loosen etc? I'd really appreciate it. Yes, I have a stand, so raising the wheel isn't an issue.
also can you please post the pics of the new rear tire on your r15.2002 Herculese Top Gear 6 speed

I got my r15 serviced around 15-20 days back and I handed over a bottle of Motul 5100 to the mechanic and for sometime I wasnt inside the SVC, and I didn't find an empty bottle of my 5100 where as there were several empty Yamalube's on the ground. The mechanic is a good friend of friend but still I don't know I doubt that Engine oil in my bike was changed, The gear shifts are very hard.. tried lubing the chain but in vain.
Is there anyway I can check the condition of my engile oil? also how can I check the engline oil level.Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

Braking issues..
One weird problem:
This happened to me twice; both time after washing bike at service centre brakes went kaput..
Once a year back after washing and lubing of chain, both front and rear brakes were rendered useless
and had to rough-up brake pads with sand paper..
This time happened post service.. but only rear brake were affected and pads are just 3K kms old.. and were breaking good before service
Here they clean bike with fairly pressurized water and kind of soppy water, though cleaning wise they are good but above incidents are making me vary of this … next I’m going to tell them not to use pressurized water on the disc directly… cause this happened to me twice in 9 times bike went to service centre..
Did somebody else experience the same? Any other causes and solutions? ..
On learning side always check the breaks of the bike after service or repairs before hitting streets at speed..
Second query not related to above: Do disc new brake pads require some kind of break-in .. asking ‘cause when I changed brake pads they didn’t felt good initially but they started to improve a lot as the KMs increased..
Wondering
: Does using HIDs on both headlamp assy make battery weak.. came to know after chatting with service centre guys .. ‘cause they are now recommending to install HID only on one side.. any thoughts on this?

1. Have they been using 'used' diesel for washing... if so, tell them to stop using the same...Originally posted by Baloo.Mech View PostOne weird problem:

2. Yes, the break pads to require some amount of break in...
3. HIDs, no idea... have no experience with the same...Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

^ Nah no diesel or petroleum based product... though they use some soap solution kind of stuff.
HIDs: I was keen to install one of these but some time back left the pursuit for now. Seems ill effects are more than benefits as i don't do much night time high speed rides....
Major reason to put off was lack of knowledge in vendors selling HIDs (sick of hearing "Sab log yehi lagate hain") and market flooded with cheap dubious stuff.. found many people are just want that blue tinge rather than actual visibility improvement.. which currently available stuff fulfills..Last edited by Baloo.Mech; 01-19-2011, 01:51 AM.Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle
