Hey guys got my tappets adjusted for the first time today at 22333 kms. Earlier I cud hear mild tappet noise and now after servicing they are completely gone. I was charged Rs 130/- for this.
And one more thing the teeth of my front sprocket were bent from one side, so thought of flipping it but my mechanic at the SC said that its too much bent n flipping it would further increase the noise and adviced me to change only the front sprocket in next servicing. So my question is should I get only the front sprocket replaced or the entire chain sprocket set???

You want to make a 38B to 20P... You really want to do thatOriginally posted by Ascetic View PostWhat can be done 38B lot r15s smoother? Because whenever i ride a 20 P series i feel like i should have rather gone for a second hand 20P than 38 b

??? Hmm... lets see... replace the clutch basket, the clutch plates, pressure plates, and the clutch springs with that of the 20P... that should about do it... cost??? Don't know... you will need to find out from that out from the svc....

Motul is the best, no problemsOriginally posted by Sharan_R View PostAnybody?

Is this the general trend? Does this mean my tyre is faulty? Because I havn't done any burnouts either!Originally posted by nagoo View PostMine wore out at 19k kms .... i have done lot of riding and ripping .. [never done burnouts] .. so finally i changed it @22K kms ...

I've done top speeds many times and I corner a lot. I'm also a heavy braker.

Not necessary. Tyre wear is dependent on a number of factors such as the condition of the roads (how abrasive they are) you ride on, tyre pressure, weather, load, condition of suspension, acceleration, breaking, etc...Originally posted by ZeNashB View PostDoes this mean my tyre is faulty? ......Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

I guess that is pretty important. The Yamalube made by Motul is not as good as the older one made by Mobil. R15 is loosing smoothness by1500 KMs with the YamaLube now.Originally posted by akhilmuraleedhar View Postchange the oil every 2k kms cumpolsorily. do not wait for 3k kms.
For the record, my R15 was on Mobil Yamalube till 6000 KMs service and then on Petronas Full Synth. Changed the oil every 3K KMs. at 24K KMs service I had no stock of Petronas so went in for Yamalube API SL. Had to change it at 1500 KMs due to roughness and by the time it was due service at 3K it was not as smooth again. But with Petronas my bike runs to 4K+ KMs without loosing onthe smoothness - tested it recently when my speedo sensor went kaput (I calculated the distance travelled by reverse engineering - by counting how much petrol is used
).
May be it is that I am used to Full Synth oil or may be my R15's engine is not as new but the Yamalube now is not as satisfatory as it used to be.

Showed the showroom guys and they say its like this only. You've got some help already. If still unclear, I have posted with a clear photo in this thread almost abotu 2 years ago. Pls search.Originally posted by shrinathrao View Posthey man i tried searching them but confused which is the actual screw to tight, can you please help me.
Bingo...Originally posted by jigar2speed View PostDaddy just let you pass, don't mess with them.
Recommended change interval is 12K KMs. It would last that much unless you do extreme riding. I mostly did high speed long distance touring initially and by 12K KMs my spark plug head had a minor taper to one side. Have to observe carefully to see that. The plug costs Rs 70-80 and is a vital part. Pls don't adjust it or use it with a worn out head. Change it periodicaly whether or not you can see the wear out.Originally posted by Ascetic View PostHow long would spark plug last??? I have run 4.5K kms on stock plug. Was thinking to go for NGK
It was still good to go and still is my spare plug. On Iridium plug since then and at abt 35K KMs it is going good.
Now, for the big discussion... I have seen that the Yellow and SunShine red R15's are crispier in the low end. But by that time my bike was already 20K KMs old. I thought it is the age of the bike. Mine is a 20P1 model with Iridium plug and runs on Full Synth. Several people have comented that my bike is smoother in acceleration. I have attributed that to the plus and oil till now. But I think, in this case, the clutch too is paying its part.Originally posted by neoakshay View PostWhat differences have you guys felt between the 20P1 or 20P2 and the 38B1? Not just things like low-end or high-end power, fuel economy or such.. I'm referring to the FEEL of the bike itself. I feel there's A LOT of difference in the sound and smoothness of the engine.. the 20P models are surprisingly MUCH smoother! What do you guys think?
BTW, guys, does anyone have a clear idea on when the series' changed?
I am very forgetful but let me still try to recollect (can be 100% wrong)
Initially (Jun 2008) we had Blue & Black
I think in Jan 2009 we got Wine Red
about Jul 2009 we got Yellow & SunShine Red along with a new Black. Horn mount changed.
Jan 2010 we got new a Blue
Is there ay link to these changes and the series numbers - 20P1, 20P2, 38B1 and 38B2???

Similar observations from my side too. Have ridden a Yellow R15 and the engine felt harsh and was transmitting more vibes. Blamed it on my friend's poor running in.
My 2008 model on the other hand( iridium plug and Motul synth) runs a lot more smoother, and seems more eager to redline to.

Scrapped the shoe first time, and feeling was awesome. I wasn't going too fast as I've had an accident while leaning on the same turn, but I was concentrating on smooth throttle input(learnt from keith code's twist of the wrist vol2). Just felt like sharing

R15 Wheel Bent
Hi,
I was driving at 65 kmph when hit a pot hole tonight ..... After few min I realised the rear tyre has lost pressure as the Rear wheel was bent.....
Somehow I managed to reach home....But I dont know how to get it repaired or replaced??? Do i need to take it YSC or wheel alignment centre to fix the bent alloy wheel???
Let me know any good place in bangalore where i can fix this .....
Please let me know the cost of replacement of rear alloy wheel and if it is covered under insurance......
Thanks

Will be covered under insurance, get it replaced. They might try to fool you by saying that they can correct the bend, but that is bullsht, no matter how much they hammer it, a bent rim will be a bent and air will leak anyhow.Originally posted by dreamzpartha View PostHi,

Hey friends yesterday i went to yamaha wakdewadi showroom and asked for a detachable main stand for which they showed me a main stand which is launched only for R15 for 900/- Rs which can be permanently fit in the R15 and the stand was quiet high and i spoke to one person who had put it he told it doesnt touch the ground unless the speed breaker is too big.
has anyone of you put up the thing?
