I have planned a Goa trip on R15 from mumbai so thats around 1300 kms both ways..is there any concern on such a long trip with a missing foundation bolt?

So far in 3 years I've changed clutch plates once and chain sprocket once.

Also bought a "wurth?" chain lube from yammie svc 500ml for 650 rs.
I don't have any idea about that, but still why take chances.?
You should get it fixed 1st.
Motul chain lube is available for rs450.

Yes, you both got ripped off. My recommendation, stay in touch with MRF dealers, than the Yamaha showroom cheaters. I bought my rear for Rs 1550 in the month of Jan or Feb (don't remember).

EDIT:Hellbreaker, you also have a bad habbit of changing oil very fast. You can use the mineral oil for 3K, Semi's for 4.5K and Full Synthtic for 6K to 8K.

Hey dude firstly put a new foundation bolt before you plan for such a long ride as you never know if the issue may turn into some major hazard.
For chain try the rolon one in case Yamaha doesn't have the stock. Also you can take motul chain lube or Tvs branded oaks spray. Both are good.

Also, Semi synthetic Yamalube engine oil doesnt keep my bikes engine that smooth after 1500 kms or so....thinking of trying Motul for the first time...any suggestions?

          Thanks
naman is a big chor that's all I can say --

rear is available at 1800-2k even now at vashi & dadar

Damn...thats a 100ok rip-off man....they said the price has been increased by MRF....I will write to mrf people about it...even got the bill with me....probably nothing will happen but still

For foundation bolt, I am going to try other yammie svc's..probably somewhere close to Andheri-East.

            • Hey R15'ers,

An idea struck me after a few events recently. I'd just serviced my bike, was gleaming and feeling showroom-fresh. Went to my friend's place and then decided to go for a ride, he requested a ride on one particular stretch and i agreed. We rode hardly 100m, a car guy turned suddenly and DOWN we went.. Being used to his P220, my friend cudn't use the R15's braking ability to its max..

Now coming to my idea. A small fall and mirror kaput, indicator gone, fairing cracked.. Had last crashed when the bike was 2 months old, due to not having learnt enough about it. I'm sick of paying so much for damn plastic.. I removed the fairings and have been riding the bike that way for 2 days now.. My idea is to give the bike a naked look, raised handlebars and such.. What do u guys think?

Do you know that R15 has been "Tunnel Tested" for aerodynamics? If yes, then i will leave it up-to you for decision making. If not, pls. don't spoil the character & the way the bike handles.

Usually known as streetfighter styled bikes, I had the exact same thoughts after my last crash, but decided against it due to personal reasons.

I'd say go for it, you'll have a *****ing windblast at 120 and above, but it'd be nice to have a unique ride. check out Link 1
                  Link 2 , Link 3

1 thing more, since you're going the naked route, I'd say drop a couple of teeth on the front sprocket since you're not gonna be doing 130+ with a naked bike, why not reduce teeth on the front and enjoy killer acceleration?
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

I think riding without the fairing you not doing justice to the bike or your own self. If company invested on the fairings I am sure they would have had some purpose, not just for the sake of it.

How much ODO Veyron, if more than 3K km then you can use the lube once after 700 to 800kms, after getting the chain cleaned by pressure water wash or with the Motul Chain Cleaner. If the ODO is within 3K kms then every 500km.

                          • Really Worried... Pls help out.

                            Hi Guys,

I've been a silent reader for quite some time and this is my first so so bear with me. I bought the YZF R15 in November'10. Din't really get a chance to do long rides because I was switching jobs. The longest ever was a one day trip from Pune to Mahbi and back.

My biggest concern is the vibration thats there in the bike. Barely after 2 to 3 days from servicing the vibrations are back up. Also, I don't see my bike hitting speeds that you'll guys discuss. She seems to max out at 134 on the Speedo.

Pls do reply and let me know what can be done. And ya Would like to congratulate everyone for making this one of the largest threads.

Read the manual. It has enough on periodic checks & replacements.
The manual will not talk about wear & tear repalecments like chain, tyres, brake-pads etc. as these are usage based. No owner will be able to give a replacement period either.
All are grown-ups here, & the least they can do is help themselves by stocking atleast 1 piece of each wear & tear spare like brake-pads, air-filter, oil-filter, etc., instead of depending on others for advice. All these parts are due for replacement one day or the other, sooner than later.

btw, 5k is too early for fuel injector cleanup. Unless you are using highly adulterated fuel, don't even bother about it.

All our bikes have vibes, so don't worry about it unless it is too harsh.
The SVC should be able to fix the vibes (if very high), but if they are unable to do so, do let us know where the vibes come from & other details, and we will try to help..

Regarding top-speeds, don't worry. Your bike seems alright to me.. Not all the R15s have the same power output, and have slight variations due to different run-in methods, fuel used, engine oil, air-filter condition etc.. To get maximum performance, you will have to shift as close to the red-line as possible.. Do that & let us know..
                              Hope this helps.

                              My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.
