  • Any Ideas?

    Hello xBhpian,
Anybody out here knows the mileage between R15 and Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350cc? What is the mileage difference between these motorcycles?
I would be more thankful if you have personally experienced mileage of both bikes.
    Thanks in Advance

    • Senior owners please pour your suggestions

Why cant we have something like stock ready with us as and when the particular spare part which we have to replace has depreciated 50% of its life, we have experienced owners, new owners and owners who are still in processing of buying their R15. And as we know everyday or month some one has some replacements after lets say some x amount of kilometers. why cant the experienced owners pour their suggestions like on particular kilometers this xyz things has to be replaced or checked or something that sort of as the owner is already having that thing in his stock.

This will help a lot instead of running around at last moment, even one can ask other xbhpian to courier particular thing if its not available in his city.

this cant be practically possible because disc pads, tyres, clutch plates, chain set etc all these consumables get used up or replaced according to diffrent riding styles of different people. somebody have to replace disc pads in 9000kms some people use it upto 20000 also so all these things DEPENDS so they can't be assumed same for everyone.

I agree but one will know easily depending on his usage that when the disc pads or other necessary things have reached 50% of their life.

yeah that you can estimate unless once you used up that part only after that you can have an practical estimate..like for ex.. if this time your disc pads changed at 10000 on odo...so you can estimate that when your odo reach around 18000 kms you have to start your hunt then.

this estimate can also be not accurate because may be the first 10000kms done by you is in ok conditions with no many long rides and the other 8000kms are included with 1000 km ride, ride in rain so then pads can need replacement earlier...!

                Exactly,
the way I ride, I've finished the brake pads(front) 3 times in 19K kms and rear just 5 days ago
Chain is upto date, sprockets up to date, clutch upto date..while a friend of mine hasn't change anything yet and its still running good, though he bought the bike with me and his has run 21K kms.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

                • Does R15 have banking sensor? I am to buy a CBR or an R15 next. When I visited Yamaha store, the salesman told me it had banking sensor (which causes engine shutdown incase of bike fall while running). But I have not seen this in the official features/specifications on the website.

                  • All i am saying is lets say you worn out your front disc pads 3 times in 19k kms and other person changed once in 10000 kms so same way if experienced owners like you can give a average timing to new owners here, it will be beneficial to many of them.

yes it has got so in case of crash or if the bike tilts beyond a particular angle the engine automatically shuts down and halts safely.

Yeah it does have a banking sensor , when you fall down, the engine is shut down and when you simply lift it and start it, it won't start and engine trouble light will start to glow as you press the start button.
You need to switch the ignition off and then again switch it on and then press the starter button it'll start without a fuss.
It has a few more features like this which is nowhere mentioned like decompressor etc.........

Thanks for your information. May be they are so basic features in the international market that they are not exclusively listed.

                          • rear tyre for rs.2800

Had to replace the rear tyre today..got the stock one from Naman mrf tyre shop in navi mumbai panvel. I paid 2800 bucks for it. They said rear for 2800 and front will cost 1800. Is it a reasonable price or did they rip me off?

Also, Semi synthetic Yamalube engine oil doesnt keep my bikes engine that smooth after 1500 kms or so....thinking of trying Motul for the first time...any suggestions?

                            Thanks

Even I paid rs4500 for both the tyres, so I think it's fine. Motul's semi synthetic oil is good and I have a habit of changing oil for evry 1000kms though I use the mineral oil Motul 3000 4t

Its been almost 3 years since I bought my R15. Its almost time now to change the chain sprocket which will cost around 3k plus. Those yammie svc guys lost one of the foundation bolt of my bike and I am having a hard time finding one now...everywhere its out of stock....one of them had ordered for it might fit it on coming friday.

I have planned a Goa trip on R15 from mumbai so thats around 1300 kms both ways..is there any concern on such a long trip with a missing foundation bolt?

So far in 3 years I've changed clutch plates once and chain sprocket once.

Also bought a "wurth?" chain lube from yammie svc 500ml for 650 rs.
