Anyway, the cover costed some Rs.250, I picked it up from Orion Yamaha, Bangalore. Grips also from the same place.
Seat cover is locally made, but they have put a Yamaha imprint on the sides&are selling it there itself. Grips are normal stuff.
It is comfortable enough&fits very well.
Fitting is just like any other bike's seat cover-they pull it around the seat&staple it underneath. Nothing special!
ok! Sounds like a decent deal for 250 bucks. Will check it out next time I happen to got that side.

Insufficient lubing i.e., dry chain and/or sprockets are one of the causes of hard gear-shifts.
Check on that & get back.

You need to use a size 8 T-spanner to open the 2 bolts shown here:

The spanner would look like the tool shown here at the top, but of size 8:

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

    • Guys, when I'm on bumpy roads I herar a ticking sound from underneath the front faring, I have tried to rotate both wheels and try to reproduce the sound but it comes while the bike is in motion and not necessarily on bumpy roads but its much more on bumpy roads.. What maybe the problem? How do I get it fixed.. Please guys help me out its very very irritating

More often than not, people have found the cause to be loose items in the underseat compartment.
Empty the underseat (& remove any other loose items on the bike), & go for the bumpy ride. I'm pretty sure you will come back without having heard the ticking sounds.

Hitting a stone at 60-70 KMPH and bend rims is quite strange. The Insurance company is now saying that it is a manufacturing defect and my friend cannot claim the amount.

              Guys what are his options?

Talk to the dealer about this, if to no good then mail t
Yamaha...else replace them yourselves.. no one should go at those speeds if one can't even dodge a small stone on the road..braking at that point would also have added pressure on the rims.. .

                  • Ernakulam -> Wayanad -> Bangalore trip

                    Guys,

I did a solo trip from Bang to Ernakulam and while coming back my friend had accompanied me. I am not putting this in the travelogue page as i dont have any textual description. If anyone wants to see some pics of R15 and Wayand you can visit the fb link.

Its not from under the seat I have checked, coming from near the front suspension..

                      • my bike is 3 weeks old and there is this squeezing sort of noise coming, everytime i go over bumps. I dont think its anything major but still any idea where this might be coming from? my guess is the suspension..... could someone help me ?
No its not about speed, its about turning and shifting those gears!

                        • R15, for touring?

Guys, am intending to buy R15 but am skeptical about its ability as a tourer. I sometimes (not much) tour with my wife. How does R15 fare in touring - rider and pillion comfort? I am apprehensive of the high set rear footpegs - can they be uncomfortable to my wife? And the rider posture??
I personally dislike the touring brand, the Karizma.

                          • ^^ touring can be a bit difficult for the pillion on the 15, and about the rider comfort and touring, you may have backache or wrist pain on continuous long drive, and by long I mean doing ~500kms non-stop
The only thing standing in your way, the ONLY thing you can count on, at any given time.. Is YOU

I recently did 570 km ride alone from Bangalore to Ernakulam and back with a pillion. It was fine to ride alone. But with pillion, it would be horrible for the one sitting behind. Even the rider will have to take the pressure of pillion while braking. The seat of r15 is at an angle and hence its difficult for the pillion to sit for long. Nothing else is a problem. It can run for any long with the liquid cooled engine.

I cannot imagine riding for 500kms non-stop!! I have normally rested every 100kms. Would I or my pillion have these problems with these intermittent breaks?

As I have seen , the rear seat is not inclined but made nicely flat. How was it horrible for the one sitting behind? Did the pillion rider have problem from the high positioned foot pegs?

And whats the best cruising speed on R15? Can it do 100+ for a long time, I mean for hours? And at such high speeds will it be smooth or rough so that your palms get tingled?
