  • As I have seen , the rear seat is not inclined but made nicely flat. How was it horrible for the one sitting behind? Did the pillion rider have problem from the high positioned foot pegs?

And whats the best cruising speed on R15? Can it do 100+ for a long time, I mean for hours? And at such high speeds will it be smooth or rough so that your palms get tingled?
It can cruise at 100+ smoothly. But try sitting behind r15 and experience for yourself if it is at an inclination. About riding the bike for long, I have covered 570 kms in 13 hours with breaks.
About how is it horrible to sit behind, since the seat is at an angle, only a small area of butt will be in contact with the seat. And the pillion rider keep moving front whenever brake is applied. This is entirely my observation. It would be good to test it for urself.

Hmm...you mean there is no good room for the pillion. By the way, what is the highest best cruise speed R15 can give you?

, thats well said. By the way, when I first time rode my friend's R15 for about 50 kms, I got pain in the neck because my body was bent forward and I had held up my head. Will this be persistent after every ride? And is it so with back and wrists?

No. I dint mean that there is no good room. How will it be is you sit on a slide in a park for long time. This is a extreme exaggeration of the situation but to make it clear, you can think of it that way. Anywhere between 90 -100 is really cool and feel safe. 100 -115 is good. Above that is fine if the road is kinda empty (for cruising). I have cruised at speeds varying between 90 to 115. I dont rip my bike and hence the highest speed that i achieved is 120.

Thats a memorable experience . I still did not get answer to my question that if the high positioned rear pegs posed any discomfort to the pillion.

              • Anyone of you guys have faced a RIM bend issue wit R15? If Yes what you did to replace it or claim it under warranty?

Yamaha...else replace them yourselves.. no one should go at those speeds if one can't even dodge a small stone on the road..braking at that point would also have added pressure on the rims.. .
Yeah he is talking to the dealer. This is what hapenned (as narrated by my friend): He was riding behind the friends 220 all the time. The 220 rider saw the stone and dodged it. Both of them were at around 60-70 KMPH. Avoiding the stone after the 220 rider which was not visible to the R15 rider (my friend) was not possible at that time. And as per him it was a big stone in middle of the road and was unavoidable.

To be quite frank, the rear seat isnt that comfortable for long rides in the r15. Ive had my friends complaining about the seat......if ur going to be riding with a pillion for long distances i'd suggest you look for another bike....cos riding with a pillion can be uncomfortable for the person riding the bike..this is my observation. Take your call..
But riding solo in the r15 is a heavenly experience.! i dont have much experience when it comes to touring, but my recent trip to pondy made me realize this....and body ache purely depends on the individual, i read that some people had persistent back aches, whereas till date i havent had any back ache but do have persistent pain in my wrists....
No its not about speed, its about turning and shifting those gears!

                  • I am here making this post today because the powerful brakes of R15 saved my life today I was doing 70-75 and a i10 suddenly decides to take a right turn without showing any blinkers.. The guy stopped right into the middle of the road and I had only 30-50 meters to react and applied both the breaks, the rear tyre got locked, i was slipping towards the car but eventually the bike stopped and the car owner and I had a good talk

Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

ride safe! the road is filled with idiots! regarding the brakes, how does your rear brake react? i feel my rear brakes arent upto the mark... i feel i have to apply too much pressure on the rear brake lever.....
and how did the talk go?

The rear tyre got locked and I slipped with locked tyre for about 15 meters and I felt i was gonna skid and fall down but thank god that didnt happen. Shouted on the driver harshly and a bit of abusing was also going on

I guess the brake was set up that way for not getting locked easily. Even i have my bike rear brakes set that way. I asked Yamaha ppl too abt this and they said the same.

Thanks mate for your opinion. If you are there, I am in the CBR250 thread too. Thats my another option. Happy riding!

                              2. Change of engine oil will most probably solve this problem. Also lube your chain if it isn't.

                              3. Whats your idle RPM? It happened with me too. In my case the idle RPM was too low.
will get the tappets and engine mountings bolts checked by the svc guy..

i use motul chain lube and i lube it after every wash ..
m using the yamalube SS oil for Rs.450 from Svc .. now that i have my service on the 18th .. do i have to get it changed ?? it would be my 3rd Service. bike has done only 5000 Kms.

ideal rpm is on 1200 . i had asked the svc guy if its the 1200 is the right rpm and he said yes .. so i left it that way

thanks for your help bro .

What do you mean by engine stops..?? Does it switch off completely?? Or is your bike misfiring..?? If first case then ask svc to check the spark plug cap..search the thread for details ... if the second case then it could be because of improper fuel.. go to svc ASAP... clean the injectors and drain the fuel tank and add fresh fuel..also clean the spark plug..

Do you run your bike on low fuel...??
i believe its both .. engine switches off completely and m not to sure if its misfiring..

about the fuel .. m not using Speed or such .. m just using the plain petrol .. BP, IO and HP .. is there any problem if i use BP first and than top up my fuel tank with HP and when HP finishes i top up with BP ??

i would get the spark plug cleaned..
The fuel on the bike is mostly full .. i dont let it reach to the end ..

how can we know if the fuel is not proper ? and here in mumbai even if i get all my fuel removed by the svc guy .. the petrol pump would not give me in a bottle..

                                thanks
