Tech matures day by day... may it be inb R&D or in manufacturing .. the new lots also have good quality and without any issues .. i can't understand why ppl raise quality issue when it comes to indian manufactured product ... its completely rubbish .. what u say about KTM dukes or Honda stunner/dazzler.... countless cars which manufactured here and shipped to outside world .. are they also inferior ????? no ..

The issue here is R15 and new lots had perfect 100% quality ..there is no doubt .. even i say that the older R15 lots had many defects like in Radiator and in fairing plastic quality .. which got replaced by comp periodically and overcome those defects in the new lots

only difference in new and old one is w.r.t .. milage and power .. which is directly related to ECU mapping

            • ^^ Sorry if its misleading, I don't have first hand information, I've booked mine and waiting for the delivery, I've heard lots of people saying about the build quality of the 1st lot and the Indian manufactured ones, I guess the only difference is the clutch plate and ECU map right ?

The quality issue I spoke about was with the engine components as I read here on XBHP, I do not remember which thread. The new ones cannnot be revved as hard as the first ones. Is this true?

what is change in ECU of new and old? are old R15's mapped more agressively i.e more power and comparitively lesser mileage than new ones?

The new R15s, specifically the 38B1 models have an ECU with a flatter power curve, supposedly to improve low-end pick-up and mileage. My bike belongs to this series, and i dont think the quality of machinery is any less from the previous 2 models. I haven't had any major issues with the bike, i can do a top whack of 145kmph (Although im 85kgs ), and i consistently get 38-42kmpl of mileage.

Yes, the 38B1 models sound different, feel harsher, and have some extra vibes, but those are the only differences you'll feel.

                                Hi there,

Since the speculation in November 2011, I've been waiting for this and postponed the idea of purchase.

Now, as the events took turn and no confirmed news of this launch available; I finally decided to buy R-15 tomorrow; and now I see again this news of the new launch.

Now, If I go for the current one and there indeed comes the new R-15 in May.. I don't have words to express my frustration
and if I wait and then it turns to be another rumour... then???

                                Please suggest what to do

PS: This would be my First bike (Finally earned enough to buy myself a ride)
