Somewhere in this thread I came across a post which showed the engine mounting bolts..and if I'm not mistaken, there were a total of 5 bolts....

Can anyone guide me as to where these bolts are located exactly...(Tried a lot to search for the exact post but couldn't find it)....

My baby turned 1 year old on May 27th 2011, with 22500km on the ODO. And WHAT a year this has turned out to be! From being an Average-Joe commuter on my Honda Stunner, to being known as the Biker-boy of my neighbourhood. A fun-filled year consisting of long-distance touring, tarmac burning weekend thrill-rides, drag races and everyday commuting to office.

Haven't had any major issues with the bike as of now, never broken down, never left me stranded, and on one occasion brought me to the petrol bunk before conking off for lack of fuel. Joel's upgrades breathed fresh excitement into the ownership experience, with the bike becoming so much easier and exhilarating to ride! Average fuel-efficiency when bike was stock was 35-40kmpl, with the big-bore kit and Simota Air Filter it is now 42-50kmpl regularly. 0-100kmph in about 9secs is the icing on the yummy cake, now called the Race concepts R16.. Camshaft and ECU upgrades now on the radar!

Can't wait for the weekend to head out on a loooong ride, just for the sheer joy of owning this machine. almost 25,000km on the ODO now. Here's a couple of pics taken yesterday.

      Cheers and happy riding!
You said your bike is Joel'd, in the pics you've the stock exhaust on and you drive without the RVMs, isn't that illegal

        and about the misfiring anyone??
Braking is the forte of the 15, isn't it, I try not to use the rear brake, so in case of panic braking, I use the 70:30 braking style and don't end up fishtailing and skidding, apply different level of pressure on the brake lever and choose the best that suits you

First brush your chain with kerosene then use 2T engine oil .. just give a clean cote and do repeat the process . the interval will be when you start hearing the chain noise again , because it varies to different driving conditions and atmosphere.

I think WD40 spray might do the trick too. But I think chain ckean and chain lubing frequently should keep your chain in good shape. I once thought my chain had rust on it, but on closer inspection it was just slush that had dried up on the chain after it got splashed during rainy weather or slushy roads, a simple wash took care of it, but be sure to lube your chain after cleaning it.

You should use both front and rear brakes in the right proportion, too much front brake alone could cause wobble i think if not a tip-over. too much rear could cause a skid.
Did you ever have an accident? If so, check your chassis for any bends, and get it corrected if needed. If not, maybe you could check at an svc if your swing-arm mounting bolt is a little loose, or maybe your rear tyre isn't mounted tightly. Try tightening everything up, it might work.

                • hi all,

facing a problem recently. whenever my bike passes-over a speed-hump or broken roads, there is a "khot-khot" type of sound below the bike..seems like it comes from somewhere around the middle of the two foot-pegs. it sounds like there is a stone inside a plastic container and someone is jumbling it. could not find any visible loose parts below as much as i could see. what could it be? please help...

                  Thanks

He he he ... having fun ain't you... and you still don't have FFE in place... that would have really made it go berserk... enjoy but be safe... yes, the stock ECU does play spoilt sport...

As far as my knowledge goes thats for draining water in case water gets inside your exhaust...

I'm still kinda apprehensive about the exhaust.. Main concern being it might be too loud and noisy for touring.. but then its easily switchable to stock. Was thinking of getting the camshaft and race valve springs first, then the ECU and finally the exhaust..

                                dear sir/ma'am,
First of all I'm very sorry having to lodge a complaint against a
dealer/svc owner for her rude behaviour to customers. These people are
harming the Good reputation of such a respectable company with world
                                presence like Yamaha
The dealer/svc is in Vaikom and its name is Ave Mariya Automobiles
I came here Today(and I'm still here) for getting my Bike(R15)
serviced(6th free service). Since my Bike has covered only 1000kms
since the last service and it was running on semi-synthetic oil which
can be used trun 3000kms(I ride most of the time below 6k rpm), I
didn't wanted to get it changed as it'd be just a waste of Money.
Also they told me that lubing the chain is chargeable which I thought
was free during periodic servicing(normally I do the lubing myself
with Motul chain lube, which I did 2days ago). I told the lady(also
the owner) who runs the svc that I do not wish to change the oil and
lube the chain. Upon which she rudely told me that it is a part of
free servicing and if I don't want the oil change, chain lube then I
can go to another service centre.
I'd have gladly went away but since I took leave from work Today just
for the servicing and since there are no other svc nearby(the next
nearest has to be taken prior appointment), I decided to do the
servicing here in Ave Mariya Automobiles itself.
They'll charge me for the oil change and the chain lube but it is not
the thing I'm worried about. The thing thats bothering me is that
these people are swindlers and I'm getting robbed in broad daylight.
Not only me, so many people who come for servicing here.
I've faith in Yamaha but the svc people are really hopeless who only
think of their sales but service be damned.
I'll gladly pay for the oil change when it will be due but I don't
like to see my hard earned Money to be robbed like this.
I'll never recommend my friends to go to this svc for any purchase or service.
I'm a mechanical engineer by profession and I know whats good for my Bike.
I'm also putting this mail up in xBhp.com - India's Most Popular Motorcycling/Biker's Community | India's First Motorcycling Biking Lifestyle Magazine which is the leading
                                motorcycling portal of India.
I'm still here as I am waiting for my Bike to get serviced but I'll
never come back here. I know most svcs don't care much about servicing
a Bike properly and the owners don't give a damn too. But atleast they
should talk to their customers politely. The attitude that lady
displayed was not what is expected. No wonder I don't see any Bike on
display in the showroom of this svc.
Also a few days back I went to another svc to purchase a bottle of
fully synthetic oil for future use(during 7th service). They gave me a
1L bottle of Mobil 1 0W40 for Rs.1150/-. Upon much searching on the
Internet, I was confirmed that this particular grade of oil is for
Cars and not for Bikes. If used it Bikes, there will be clutch
slippage and wear and tear due to the low viscosity Index and hence
not recommended. Since the svc was using 0W40 oil since long for oil
changing in Bikes which is meant to use in Cars, they won't even take
                                it back.
Why do you allow all these to happen and leave your customers high and
dry?(most common people won't even know)
Japan is famous for the politeness of the people and here the rude
behaviour and ignorant attitude of the svc people is throwing muck on
                                it.
Atleast please call the Ave Mariya people and ask why they did this.
Though I know its for the few easy bucks but in the end its going to
cost them more as me and my friends will never come here again. Also
                                hundreds more who feel cheated.

Hope to hear from you soon about the actions you have taken.

                                Regards,
