  • Guys

clutch push lever spring in my R15 is broken. No idea how and when it happened. When i checked with the YSS they said it is complex process (involves removing the clutch housing?) to replace the Clutch Push lever spring. Any suggestion on whether it is safe to ride with a broken push lever spring or immediate replacement is recommended?

    Thanks

Yamaha riders is ok if you want just normal oil change, rest i would say avoid.

If your talking about the tuning fork emblems on the tank and tail end, they cost 75 and 45 rs each respectively.

Bro, thanks for your reply. But what I'm looking for is the decals on the kits and the one just above the head light where R15 is written.. Is that available separately..?

I installed Duro tyres rear 120/70-17 and front 110/70-17 on the original rims. The cost set me back a whopping Rs.8500/-. (Metro Tyres at Lamington Road)

As I continue to use the original rims, the rear tyre has 'bunched up' and I have ended up with a profile which is higher than the original 100/80 MRF tyre despite the new tyre having a lower profile. The front seems okay. This has slightly raised the height of the bike as well as causing the bike to lean sharper when on the side-stand. There is also a noticeable loss in speed when riding above 100kmph.

Any ideas how much a suitable rim for a 120/70 section tyre will cost me and where is this available in Mumbai or Pune? If available, will this rim and 120/80 tyre fit without modification in the swing-arm?

All in all, I think this is probably one of the most silliest things I have done and do not recommend this to anyone.

I recently did a short 150 Km trip to Pune and the angle of the bike ended up giving me a pain in the neck and back. Not to mention the drop in top speed - couldnt go above 115Kmph.

I have now reverted back to the original MRF Nylogrip Zappers R 100/80 and F 8/90 and the bike is immediately back to its old self. The tyre set cost me 3600/- from the MRF showroom incl. fitting.

Okay point taken. Even though, i am clueless as to why your tyres bunched up. Actually i had read your post when it was originally posted. But thanx for the response.

@saikrishna-My front tyre{80/90/17}is going to cost me 1600 rs. I have confirmed with mrf delhi. If anyone screws with me on that quote, i am going to make that dealer sweat.

Your Welcome. By "bunching" I mean the tyre doesnt attain the desired profile despite the profile being lower (in the case of Duro it is 70 compared to the MRF 80). This happens when the lower profile tyre with a wider base (Duro 120 compared to MRF 100) is put on the original rim which is meant for the MRF 100/80 tyre. So because the rim is narrow the Duro tyre sidewalls do not "sit" properly in the rim causing the profile to be actually higher than what it should be. Shucks! Hope you get this - sounds pretty confusing.

            • R15 v1 tyre swap

              Hi guyz,

A bad pothole has caused a dent in my rear wheel rim and i plan to change it asap.
The tyre leaks air and i have to refill it every week.

Has anyone installed the rim and tyre of the V2.0 on the V1?
How has it affected handling and performance?

The thing i love about my bike the most is the handling and would hate for it to be adversely affected.

              Thanks.

There is a shop in pune (iam not aware of the location, have forgotten about it)
But he repairs bent rims (yes Alloy ones) . Instead of you spending thousands of rupees on new rims get it fixed from this person... I think it costs around 400-600rs per tyre and thats quite cheap...Also the job is top notch. Couple of pune ninja members have repaired their bent alloys from this shop...

I stay in balewadi , its like your neighbourhood near rakshak chowk.

@ vikram - eshan is saying about the alloy repair shop in kk market near bibewadi. the contact number of the person is 9923046767. Temporary solution can be to install a tube and ride and on safer side replace the rim if you can as i had been through same scenario and replaced the rim to ride hassle free.

New Rim will cost around 5K (i guess) and is covered 90% under insurance... change it under insurance and feel safe and secured... i have done work on both my rims on ZMR from that guy.. he does good work but doesnt guarantee on minor cracks or smooth ride... some wobbling remains...

So my 2 cents... Change it... it will cost you just around 500 rs more but peace of mind at high speeds has no value...

In case you decide to go to that guy.. the name is SAI wheels... remove your tyre, bearings, disc from the rim and just take the rim... dont try to do it from mechanics in front of KK market, they are not good and its juggad kind of work there...

                          • Worn out rear brake pads. What are the replacement options?

                            Hi guys,

I need to replace my rear brake pads for the first time. I have done nearly 23k kms with them . I changed my front pads many times, and always from a yamaha svc. However since the rear brake pads are inexplicably more expensive than the front, i am wondering what other options i have other than purchasing it from yamaha? I came to know through a friend that aftermarket brake pads are available, i think he was saying its by a brand called 'ask'. Apparently its cheaper. Are there anyother brands offering rear brake pads suitable for r15? Paramount is safety>quality>performance>value for money.

@akshay: Thanks once again. Now i fully understand by what you mean by 'bunched up'. I recollect seeing a couple of idiots do exactly this by fitting fz16 rear on the r15. If not for you i would have been one of them, except i'd be doing it with my front.

                            • today i took my bike to 9k rpm after 1.5k kms and the sound was just awesome. i noticed that the handlebar vibrates alot at 8-9k, its so bad that my hand feels kinda numb after 4-5secs without wearing gloves.

could it be because i changed to 15W50 FS at 1st service itself?

i had a small crash so the handlebar might be loose, can any1 tell me where the screws are to tighten them?

                              • guys, i am getting the following symptoms:

                                1)bike feels sluggish.
2)ticking noise from the engine compartment while idling and riding both.
3)lot of engine sound at speeds of 80kmph and above.
                                4)some unexplained vibrations.

i have a feeling that having done 15.5k on the odo, this would be a tappet issue.
but the mechanics here suggest not to tamper with the tappets unless extremely necessary.
I suppose they haven't done it before and the guy even said that if they do the setting, things might get worse.

What do you suggest i should do? There are only two svcs here and one of them is hopeless.

                                urgent help required.
after monday and tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!!
