  • @ Thy & Digislayer- I think you guys are talking about the peg scraper. Its called a peg scraper, and its supposed to scrape as you corner to give you a feel of how much you've leaned and when to stop. Pity it costs 270 bucks. It comes off with a no. 10 or 11 spanner, so its very easy to remove if your bike is parked somewhere. I'd recommend removing it and taking it along with you! Otherwise 270+270=540 rupees ka phatka!

Even my bike has its coolant level below the low mark. Now from where do you guys check the coolant level? I see it in the longish reservior thats on the left side of the bike when you're sitting on it. Just behind the deltabox panel. If thats the correct place, then whats behind the right side 'deltabox' panel? There is also a small viewing window there for what??

And does anybody know how to take off the fuel tank? Once we open all the allen bolts, there are two things that need to be removed from under the tank. One is the electrical connection for the fuel pump and the other is the fuel hose. Is there anything else? And if I remove the fuel hose, will the fuel inside the tank start running out of it?
    You get the point?? :D

No, It wont. They(SS) remove the tank everytime the air filter is to be cleaned. Even I had to remove it once coz an allen key got lodged somewhere deep inside. No fuel spills.

        Yes, that's the place.

that's the rear disc brake fluid reservoir.

pls don't fiddle with the fuel pipes unless extremely necessary and better leave that task to the SC guys. Unlocking and removing those fuel pipes from the tank takes some patience and careful work and they are not something you can buy any easily if broken.

For air filter cleaning, unlock the screws, lift the tank turn it 90 degrees and place it on the frame. no need to take the tank out completely.

Also, when u disconnect the fuel pipes from the tank the fuel doesn't come out of the tank. fuel comes out of the tank only when the pump works and the pump cuts off when the bike tilts beyond a certain angle - safety.

          Friends,

          thanks

          • ^^^ Yeah...

get a 19 number spanner (if u have a car, use its tool.. same number and best choice), use it on RHS of the rear wheel axle along with the 14 number one from the tool kit on LHS, loosen up the axle

with a piece of wood or a non-metal hammer tap the numbered adjustment plates to one number at a time on each side... set them to the required number, both of them to the same number & with the chain still having 20mm slack...

            tighten the axle bolts.

            Option 2:

Take it to any cycle or motorcycle mechanic and get it done.

            • Hi ,

I just wanted to post something about the R15. I have not followed this thread from its inception so please excuse me "butt"-ing in

I had been to Lepakshi on a short ride with Santoosh. Him on his R15 and me on my ZMA.

We found a stretch of road where we were flatout for about 30 seconds. We were neck and neck - sometimes he nudged ahead by a couple of feet, sometimes me on my ZMA. Neither were crouching. At one point he got ahead of me by a bike length - I slip-streamed him and drew level.

I was a bit bemused since I expected him to drop me for dead in a straight line. When we finally stopped I asked him if that was a flat out run - if he was at full whack - and then he tells me he was not on full throttle - but better still - he was only in 5th gear

LOL. There are some people here who still argue about the R15 vs P220 vs ZMA ... please stop living in denial. YMIL said they would produce the fastest bike in the country and the R15 is that. It revs quicker and reaches top speeds quicker than the ZMA and it would do that in just 5th.

I rode the bike for a part of the trip and it scores top marks in all departments - handling braking etc. Its not a tourer and you might not enjoy riding it for long distances - thats not what its meant to be but it can cruise at 100 kph merrily without making too much of a buzz.

I can imagine what it can do around a track now.

              • Sandeep, good that u too experienced it! there are a lot of people who vouch for your word.

But, for me, ZMA is still the best bike to tour.

                      • okay... I knew them as crash bobbins

                        Thanks for the clarity!

The problem is that the ones available for R1 don't fir for R15. Haven't heard of something that fits R15. I saw a link on some Yamaha website - they cost well over USD 200.

                            • Guys, having nothing else to do cos of a complexly sprained wrist, with my machine lying at the service center, I just looked up my old R15 videos and made this "R15 acceleration" video.

It gives the approx 0-60 and 0-100 timings with me as the rider:
