    • Hi guys

I am wondering which stock replacement airfilter is best buy for the R15:
      Simota OR KNFilter YA-1208 ???

      • umm....will installing a knn(rc1060) decrease the performance of the r15???? on my frend's p220 he got the r1100 and his bikes performance droped significantly.....bike gave up after 6k rpm....he's rejetting it but hasn't found the sweet spot yet.......now on the r15 i noe we need to adjust the AFR to extract any useful energy from the free flow filter....but without doing that and jus installing the airfilter will the r15 behave like my frens p220??? bcus i read that although r15's ecu cannot adjust the AFR itslef it does compensate a little for the high amount of air flowing to the engine.

another question...i rode my frens r15 nd mine back to back yesterday and realised that his bike feels taller that mine. nd my bike vibrates alot and the suspension feels very stiff whereas his bike's suspension feels smooth.both our bikes are 5-6 months old. i did mention abt this problem a month bak nd got a reply to get the rear shock lubed and frnt bearin checked.....i took it to the service station then and told them to do that.....but the problem still prevails....any suggestions???

after having to change the digital display, frnt brake caliper pin(both under warranty) problem with the indicator switch, seat not locking properly, rear brake doesn't do it's job properly, tank colour fading and now also the mileage has droped.....i cant help but think that i got a defective r15...
btw how many kms does the r15 do with a full tank???? my bikes done 265kms frm fulltank rite now and the digital meter is showing only the last line.

the LED comes as a pair and you need to put one only. Its bright enough as tail lamp and brightens up like the double filament OEM bulb while braking.
I wanted to remove the red plastic as the LED lamp is red in colour and will be more bright if the plastic of tail lamp is removed.

I wanted to ask you guys 1 thing, My bike is overheating a bit. I checked the coolant level and it's fine. But the fan did not come on. The heat was so much that I had to move my right foot off the foot rest. She doesn't do this on every ride, the overheating happens only when I'm doing 8k+ rpm for 20-30 minutes constantly.

Also, I've been using motul5100 semi synth oil. The last oil change was 4k kms ago. I'm planning to get her serviced next week. Hence trrying to find out why she is heating up so that I can get that rectified on this service.
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

How old is your bike? It seems you are due for a change of the coolant. It is recommended that the coolant be replaced every 2 years. Before replacing the coolant ensure that the cooling system is flushed and cleaned for all impurities.

I would recommend following procedure for flushing the cooling system:
              1. Drain the entire coolant from the engine, including the contents of the reservoir.
              2. Make solution of 50% demineralised water and 50% vinegar, mix it well (600 ml - 300 ml water + 300 ml vinegar).
              3. Pour the prepared solution into the radiator.
              4. Start the engine and let it ideal. Run the engine till the cooling fan kicks in and the entire contents have been given enough time to circulate through out the engine.
              5. Stop the engine and remove the entire solution. (You should see rust and other impurities in the solution).
              6. Now pour 600 ml of demineralised water into the radiator.
              7. Once again start the engine and run till the cooling fan kicks in and the contents have circulated through out the engine.
              8. Stop the engine and drain the water.
              9. Now pour in the fresh coolant solution.

Your cooling problem should be solved.

Hello . Very well explained ... I have 1 doubt -what do you mean by radiator fan kicks in ? Do you mean we have to run the engine till cooling fan is operated ?

As you mentioned the valuable points , Can this process can be done by our self ? But , i don't have the tool which is used to open the left side frame box .. Can you recommend ?

I have attached my radiator image . Why there is a colour change in the middle part of the radiator ? And how to correct the Bent Fins ?

                    Help me.

                    • ^^^ to answer your queries:

                      1. Yes, let the engine run till the cooling fan starts running.

                      2. Yes, the process is simple enough that a person with reasonable mechanical aptitude and skills can do it by himself. I am not clear what you mean by 'left side frame box'. To drain the coolant you simply need to remove the coolant drain bolt (I think its a size 10 bolt). But be careful as the coolant can be extremely hot and can cause burns if not handled properly.

                      3. The color change in the middle of the radiator is the area where the cooling fan resides on the other side of the radiator. As the cooling fan is force pulling air through the area, there will be accumulation of dirt and also discoloration.

there is no need to worry about bent fins, unless you are facing unexplained cooling issues.

                            • guys the tail light on my bike is staying on constantly evn when brakes are not applied.
my mechanic told me dat my rear brake pads r worn n need replacement, could that be the reason??

also is it possible to increase free play and move the rear brake lever a little lower??

Most likely you have a ground issue in your circuit.
