i'm hoping its not a problem with the fuel pump because there is no feeling of the engine choking at all...it just dies like the kill switch was operated.
has anybody faced this issue before?
What the hell man , what's wrong With Yamaha and quality

    • nothing wrong with yamaha quality, my bike is almost 3 years old and thanks to shrinathrao who helped me figure out the problem. Its a very minor problem and just needs replacement of the killswitch which is around RS.300, so not that big of a deal
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a Ride!' -Hunter S. Thompson

The quality is above average... At least for the R15. Mine is 3 years old. No major problems so far.

For your spark plug get your AFR checked. Also check for the fuel quality that you are using. Bad fuel can be a major cause for plugs going bad. For the issue with the headlight not switching on, have them open the switch and clean all the contact points throughly. Also ask them to check for wiring loom sockets for any loose contacts.

i guess it went bad cause of the rain, SVC guy told me, in fact i can hear the sparks leaking too , (bad spark plug cap)
but how is that possible twice in 2 month , my 3-4 Year Cbz, extreme never faced such an issue,

                • What is it? your spark plug or spark plug cap that has been at fault?
I had changed my spark plug cap twice last monsoon, this year no issues, most probably the last mechanic that has removed it hasn't fitted it back properly, not such a big thing, if I recall it was around fifty rupees only.

More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

I have some issues in my bike recently after a repair in SVC. Nothing was changed in the repair, the engine was just opened up to check for some damage since it was overheating a lot due to leaky valve. And also the Engineer from Yamaha said he had checked the ecu for issues. After that-
                    1. Sudden drop of FE to 33 from usual~40kmpl.
                    2. Lack of power after 9k Rpm or absolutely no power after that.
                    3. Tops just ~125kmph against usual 140kmph(speedo indicated).

I have given my bike again for checking.
I feel the AFR has been played with. Someone has any opinion about this?

Ask them to re-check the AFR. Also ask them to check the tappet clearance. If the tappets clearance are too tight then you will face the problems you have noted in point 2 and 3.

                        • Hi,

I'm currently riding Yamaha FZ16 and would now like to move to second hand Yamaha R15 (due to lack of budget).

Do you people think, at this point of time (where dukes & 200ns are available), would it make sense to go for a second hand Yamaha R15?

Please let me know your opinions.

                          Thank you.

@Mods, Sorry if this is off-topic.

                          • Hi, The speedometer of my 2009 R15 seems to have a mind of its own. It shows random speed and jumps from one number to another. Sometimes it shows the speed as 0kmph even when the bike is running. What could be the problem. Please help.

not about the money, but the reliability one expects

and maybe , with such an awesome bike my expectations have also increased lots

Have the speedo sensor checked. Most probably it has gone bad due to aging and exposure to elements.
